Getting printer into w2k
...ork printer attached to Samba. But under w2k, it refuses to do it. I've tried two ways to get the damn thing installed to the net and it fails. First I did the route of adding a network printer. It browsed and found my \\MRVIDEO\lp printer. It also found \\MRVIDEO\scroll, which it called HP 6MP. It is a 6MP printer. The lp printer it gave as NO PRINTER DRIVER FOUND, etc. I've downloaded the latest w2k driver from HP and placed it in the C drive. I tried each of the two printers to get it to use the INF file in the directory, which it found, but it complains about it not being w2k...

CUPS Printing to PostScript Printer
I'm having trouble printing to a HP LaserJet 6MP Postscript printer. I'm using CUPS and normal UNIX printing works fine. I've tried to configure SAMBA for point and click printing. That all seemed to go okay except that what is printed is: ===================================================== -12345X@PJL JOB @PJL SET RESOLUTION = 600 @...

some problems with samba 3.0.2rc1
Hello list, I upgraded from Samba3.0.1 to Samba3.0.2rc1 and got now following problems: LaserJet printers 6MP (sorry, we have no other LaserJet printermodels) now couse the application to crash. With Samba3.0.1 there was no probem with that kind of Printers. I use the RPM's from ftp.sernet.de for SLES8. Printingsystem is CUPS, with raw printing and serverbased printerdrivers. Has anyone an idea how...

How to increase the printing speed
...********************** On Tue, 21 Dec 1999, Brian Servis wrote: On 21 Dec, Ramesh Babu wrote about "How to print from Unix to Windows" Hi everyone there, I use SGI O2 machine with IRIX 6.3 and I have SAMBA 2.06 installed on it. Now I want to print from my unix box to a HP Laser Jet 6MP printer attached to a Windows 95 PC. Does anybody know how to set it up. My unix comes with a GUI to set up printers and has Drivers for HP LJ 6MP ( though I do not know where exactly the drivers are). Any help in this regard will be appreciated. Look at the smbprint script that comes with the s...

Samba 2.2.8 + Printers (UFMG)
Hi. I'm admin at a computer lab. Just started here, and I'm trying to set samba up. I'm having the following problem: The server (FreeBSD 4.7) has a HP LaserJet 6MP installed on it. So far so good, works great. When installing this printer on network computers, I have no problem, even printing, but someone installed the wrong driver (fortunatelly its a PS driver). When I try to install the correct driver, i receive the error #53 when copying files, say it co...

URGENT: REDHAT 6.1 STORES SAMBA PRIVATE FILES IN /etc
dear redhat, i examined a friend's system today, to help him configure it. assuming that he just "installed" from scratch the samba package, it appears that you have provided a default smb.conf file for redhat 6.1 that puts samba private configuration files in /etc. the suggested options, for example show "smbpasswd file = /etc/smbpasswd". this is REALLY bad. 1) you

Best Printer Setup
Hi, I've been toying with the idea of using the Linux machine as a print server. I'm using RedHat 5.2 and Samba 2.0.3. I already have one remote printer share working... but I can't figure out where the PrintTool in RedHat is storing the remote printers IP address. Anyone know where? :) (not important just bugging me - I hate when OS's hide stuff) I have the Samba book

Printing graphs on W98 laptop (PR#477)
...laptop (Satellite 4080), I get a problem when I hit the print toolbar button with the graph window on top. It declares an illegal operation, and produces the error messages reproduced below (slightly different in each version). It then terminates R and returns to the desktop. The printer is an HP 6MP, directly connected to the laptop, no network. All is fine on my desktop with Windows NT4.0. Is this a known problem? Call for help with Samba Printing and WinNT
..., there was no difficulty connecting to shares and printers and even to MS-Exchange from the WinXP/HE machines. In fact it was quite smooth (sorry-have to be honest). I have setup samba 2.2.8a and CUPS 1.1.19pre4, and am working with WinNT4SP6/TSE. The printers are HP laserjet 2100 (PCI/PS) and 6P/6MP (PS) machines setup both as raw printers (for direct installation on Win) and also using Foomatic+ljet4 driver for Linux printing and for using cupsaddsmb. Following Kurt's HOWTO, we can use the WinNT/TSE AddPrinter GUI to install printer drivers into the Samba PRINT$ share for the raw printer...

Windows version of R-devel
...ection 3.4 of `Writing R Extensions'.) Under rare conditions (lots of very short input lines) the history buffer could overrun and so cause crashes. This has been possible since rw0623, but first caused reported problems in rw1000 and has now been fixed. Certain HP printer drivers (e.g. the 6/6MP-Postscript driver) reset the FPU and so were causing crashes. This has been circumvented in this version by restoring the settings before and after each page. Building on a non-default drive should be more reliable, as Perl is used to find the current drive. --------------------------------...
