dovecot config for 1500 simultaneous connection

Are you saying that Dovecot needs 2MB of physical memory per IMAP session?
If I want to support a max 100,000 IMAP sessions per server, I should configure the server to have at least 200GBs of SWAP?

large Xapian index files
Hello Arjen van der Meijden,
on xapian-discuss you mentioned that your Xapian installation has got up to
15 GB database size. Can you tell me about the largest index filesize you got?
According to <http://xapian.org/docs/scalability.html>, it seems that the
quartz database filesize is limited only by the OS and file system. Can you
confirm from your experience that there is no 2GB limit?

That depends on the IMAP session, read the mailbox size and index size,
etc.
Some are significantly larger:
---
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
1033864 mail 20 0 97600 67m 54m S 0 0.1 0:01.15 imap

But yes, as somebody who has mailbox servers with 55k+ session the average
is around 1.6MB.

asterisk on mini-itx
Hello,
I'm trying to put together a low cost - low powers PBX appliance for several
customers. I have purchased a couple of the soekris net4801 boards and have
asterisk up and running on them fine but they just don't quite cut it in the
processing power department. I've been able to get about 10 simultaneous SIP
calls with simple ulaw (no encoding decoding). While this might be OK for
