Help with error log entry and terrible performance
...eading a file from the Samba server performance is
what you would expect with 100 mbs ethernet.
When uploading a large file (>1 meg) performance is very slow. 1/20th
what
I would expect.
The Samba server log has these entries:
posix_fcntl_lock: WARNING: lock request at offset 12226560, length
61440 returned
[2004/12/24 17:28:52, 0] locking/posix.c:posix_fcntl_lock(658)
an Invalid argument error. This can happen when using 64 bit lock
offsets
[2004/12/24 17:28:52, 0] locking/posix.c:posix_fcntl_lock(659)
on 32 bit NFS mounted file systems.
A google search turned up nothing usefull.

File corrupted when copy one large file(10G) from NT4.0 to samba
Hi All,
When I copied one file from NT4.0 to Linux through samba with 'copy'
command in NT4.0, the file was always corrupted. Size of the file copied
into Linux was always about 4G. If I copied it through Windows Explorer,
it was OK. It seems samba cannot process the "Write Raw" request sent by
'copy' command correctly when file size is larger than 4G bytes. Thanks

Horrible write performance from XP to Samba
...problem but something that only
occurs on specific operations like copying.
Tracing the network traffic also didn't tell me what the problem
might be: XP uses for copying as well as for other write
operations WriteAndXRequest, the only peculiarity I noticed is the
slightly exotic block size of 61440 bytes per request when copying
(which also doesn't seem to be the problem - Win98 uses the same
block size with WriteRaw)
Has anybody else made similar experiences? (Since I could see this
issue with differently configured servers/clients, it should not
be just my personal problem. Of course i...

So perhaps we're doing different things:
we
