...I have 10 of these printers, and the problem has occurred on all of them, but it never seems to effect more than one at a time. Once, on a really bad day, it hit three about an hour apart. Obviously, I see these problems more on the printers that are used the most. The clients are using the HP 5si MX PS driver. I've been upgrading a client's systems from Win98SE to WinXP and am having an unexpected problem. I have 2 Linux servers. One is a print and fax server which has worked fine with the Win98 workstations. They can browse and find the printer (an HP LaserJet 5Si) and print without problems. I have been wrestling with this for quite some time. I have Samba 3.0.9-1.3E.3 installed on a RH ES 3 server running the 2.4.21-32.ELsmp kernel.
