create a gui with a button to change graphic?
Hello everybody, I am wondering if it is possible to create a gui to plot a time series that is very big, it's an EEG signal of 20mins. What I would like to do is plot the first 5mins, then have a button on the gui that plots the next 5mins when pushed. Is it possible? Thanks in advance ! Gael.

DDO crash
...ue with wine. Still, my problem could possibly be easy to solve, I think, I hope... :-) The game, under wine, is just awesome, no lagging and/or graphical problems about it. I've been able to try many features and got no known bugs yet. The only thing that goes wrong it's that after about 5mins of play (always the same lapse of time, at every try) the game just crashes without warning. It feels as if the in-game timer (the one for idle players) is still active, even if I move the "toon", and it kicks me out after that amount of time... Anyone knows a way to solve this? I tried...

Slow network to samba machine
...t exist on the network...." Smaller files of say 1-3k transfer without problems in reasonable amounts of time. The same problems occur when I map a drive from win98 to mail - except that I can transfer slightly larger files (up to 75k) without the error/failure messages. It still takes about 5mins to transfer the file. Same goes when I use /usr/bin/smbclient \\\\win98name\c password - although I can 'get' a file up to about 140k without any error messages. I have tried the smb.conf with SO_RCVBUF to 32768, security user and share - There have been no problems establishing network c...

...o be exported from a spreadsheet which makes life even easier (later versions could just read the spreadsheet). Beware: this is _definitely_ v0.1 - I''ve only done a couple of days of Ruby so it''s more proof of concept than a final version - it''s also only been tested for 5mins. Even so I thought it might be useful. I thought about adding it to the wiki, but thought I should check here first. # lookup items from a CSV file # v0.1 - 2007/06/06 # Adrian Bridgett, Opsera Ltd. # file in the format of: # colname1, colname2, colname3,... Fileserver scalability
I just talked to Mike McGrath from Fedora Infrastructure, and he told me that they are seeing load spikes (not quite performance problems yet, but definitely a concern) in their setup. As an example, the graph [1] shows a typical client - the spikes from 16:00 to 8:00 are almost exclusively puppetd doing its thing. It seems that the most likely culprit is the fileserver - they serve 500-1500

GlusterFS as underlying Replicated Disk for App Server
...ns within an Oracle DB. Unfortunately, some of the products that we use, have to use the disk option. Ordinarily I'd just follow Oracle's guidelines and use an Enterprise NAS head and NFS, however the NAS head we have at my present role, has rather lacklustre replication granularity (every 5mins), which just won't cut it, so we're looking at alternatives, including throwing more cash at the storage vendor. The Linux team here use GlusterFS to host and replicate their Puppet infrastructure between the datacentres. They like and understand it, and say it's got good performance,...

XTerminal issue
What does wine exactly trying to do when i run it remotely? I've got some XTerminals and I'd like to run MSOffice on them (on the app server, actually) but when i try to w(h)ine it starts up, makes noise on the net for some 5mins (doing the fonts). Samba Authentication wrecking my head [ADS]
...Everything works. Rebooted, everything is fine. System running as expected. I copied to the third machine. Everything worked fine. I was able to log in using two users (mine and a colleagues). Set up some other machine stuff, rebooted, and passed the machine over. I was then informed (naturally 5mins after I left the office) that there was something wrong. Those two accounts worked from both a samba perspective, and a login perspective. However a third account that was supposed to work, failed with "su: user ccadm does not exist". Now samba doesn't work for any user other than the...

even worse after another upgrade to 2.2.8!
I haven't had any luck printing to printer attached to my FreeBSD machine using samba (local printing works fine) after upgrading to 2.2.7a and using XP. I could see my shared home directory from both XP and 2K and can still see my home dir from the w2k machine. Now, when I try to map to my home dir from XP, the printer status window appears (this time without the "access denied"

puppetdoc - referring to main class
I''m being a good boy and using the puppetdoc tool to document my classes, however I''m hitting a minor annoyance. The top level documentation for a module (let''s call it "example) is pulled from example/README (not example/manifests/init.pp), okay I can cope with that. The documentation for the class in example/manifests/init.pp ends up as example::example (hmm,

strange email client problems
I've got some issues with dovecot, that I need to resolve, I only have about 20 users in the office, but the average disk space used by each user is anywhere from 1GB up to at the extreme end of the scale 7GB. I'm using the mailbox format. The server is a P4 2.8 with a 1GB of ram and run off 250GB SATA disks. most users have lots of structured folders going as deep as 6 levels.

Get Logical processor count correctly whether NUMA is enabled or disabled
...1:65) %dopar% Sys.sleep(0.5)) # Timing stopped at: 0.08 0 293 stopCluster(cl) However, when I increased the cluster to have 65 processors, a loop with 64 iterations seem to complete as expected, but using all 65 processors to loop over 65 iterations didn't seem to complete. I stopped it after ~5mins. The same happens with the cluster started with any number between 65 and 88. It seems to me like we are still not being able to use >64 processors all at the same time even if detectCores() returns the right count now. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.
