r8712u wireless driver
...the r8712u. I would love to convert my mythtv machine from Fedora 17 to centos 6.3 to put all that chaos and instability behind me. My mythtv machine connects only wirelessly to the rest of my network and uses a Rosewill RNX-N180UBE USB adapter. This adapter has a larger than normal antenna with 5db of gain and supports 802.11n protocol. This provides greater bandwidth and a more reliable connection than any previously tested wireless adapter. However, it requires the r8712u driver that is absent from centos 6.3 and all the repos that I've examined. The elrepo repo has a number of packag...

TDM card and voicemail volume
Hello, I saw some conversation about this in the archives, but nothing definitive. If a call comes in over a CO line via the TDM400P, the Comedian Mail recording volume is so low it's inaudible. Calls coming in via SIP or IAX do not have this problem. Does anyone have any information on this issue? Thanks, Adam The contents of this email message and any attachments are confidential and

Preprocessing and Echo Cancellation Notes.
...my microphone gain set, from about 10% to 90% gain. 2) VAD: I never had a good VAD implementation in the library; I had a user-configurable audio energy threshold that did this, plus, I had a hokey algorithm where I did a pretty naive estimate of the noise floor, and then considered anything 5dB above that to be speech. This worked OK, but since I never updated my "noise floor" estimate, it was easily broken if there was additional noise added at any time (i.e. the user raised their microphone gain). Here, I have gone in and adjusted some knobs here: <p>/* if (s...

PSTN line quality
I'm looking for some input from someone with real experience of telephony. I am having problems with the sound quality on our PSTN line calls. Our channel banks are Adtran 600 and 750 and I spent a lot of time on the phone with Adtran trying to work out the problem. We are getting hum and noise and very low volume on calls. I can increase the gain in zapata.conf but that increases the echo

Will Echo problems EVER be solved, I'm scared
I came into this with my eyes wide open. I have read ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING there is to be found on the net about avoiding echo problems BEFORE I even attempted to create a production system. Since lots of people are apparently using this in production environments now I just assumed that echo IS avoidable. As others have recommended, I created a test system with the proposed production
