C5 64-bit on Dell not seeing 1 GB link
I've got a Dell Precision Workstation 490 with 64-bit Centos 5, fully updated, with an on-board Broadcom 57xx gigabit Ethernet controller, updated BIOS, 1 GB switch, and /var/log/messages and dmesg both claim the link is 100 Mb, not 1 GB. I tried setting eth0 to mtu 9000 but got an error in going so. What do I need to do to have the card see 1 gb? Thanks. Scott

PXELINUX No network device problem
Good morning. I am trying to do a dhcp/pxelinux network install for redhat linux. I have a new Dell computer with a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gibabit controller. I've searched this lists archives for the word ASSERT and ChooseNetworkInterface and did not...

Very slow download with pxelinux > 4.07 on specific hardware
...ng went ok on my first client test machine : dell optiplex 740. Pxe was really fast (vesamenu with large background image was appearing in less than 3 secondes) But on different client machine i got different results : On optiplex 790 (core i5 with intel 82579 nic) and 380 (core 2 duo with bcm 57xx), it takes 1 minute for the menu to appear. On optiplex 7010(core i5 92579lm), it is as fast as with optiplex 740. At the beginning i thought it was because my newer machine were on an efi bios, but the 7010 is too and i have no problem(i always use legacy boot). With pxelinux 4.0.7, everythi...

Strange MEMDISK problem with XP Bootfloppy images
...he screen and I can send a txt file of it if necessary. It does note in the "count" variable which try it is on. On the 4th try it is successful! Is this possibly a MEMDISK problem? Or is it something to do with the PXE code on the card??? The network cards in the optiplexes are Broadcom 57XX series. I believe it is the same in the notebook. Not totally sure about the server but I think it is also the same. Since I couldn't get that to work I tried other avenues. I tried a FreeDOS bootdisk and it worked fine every time! It even ran ghost which is what I wanted. Now I am just curiou...

The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year. Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!! Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost. Minimum requisites should be: - working well with Open Solaris ;-) -
