Runing a script under cron. Append stdout and stderr to a log file, propagate stderr back to cron for email reporting
Dear List, I want to run a rsync-ing script in cron, generating a very verbose -vv rsync log in a log file. The log file should combine both stderr and stdin, which is easy: backup.sh >>/var/log/backup.log 2>&1 However, I would like to propagate only stderr to cron - in case there has been an error, cron will mail me the assembled stderr output. I tried the following: $

Samba 3.0.14 (Debian Sarge) Memory Leakage
Hi! Our Samba file server seems to have a memory leakage. We are using samba as file server out of the box (debian sarge) on kernel 2.6.16.31. After a while users who have some shares and files open are acquiring more and more memory until the smbd dies. Here is a small shortcut from top: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 13843 gxxxxx 16 0 51792 44m 2552 S

[LLVMdev] request for help writing a register allocator
Hi Susan, You may find the PBQP allocator implementation useful as a reference to what's involved in adding a new allocator to LLVM. It's located in lib/CodeGen/RegAllocPBQP.cpp, with supporting files in the lib/CodeGen/ PBQP directory. I'm no expert on the LLVM register allocation interfaces, so I'll defer to those who are regarding the specifics of your questions. -Jim

[LLVMdev] request for help writing a register allocator
I'm using LLVM for a compiler course, and I'd like to have my students implement a graph-coloring register allocator. I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how this should be done. Is there anyone who has written an LLVM register allocator who would be willing to help me understand the basic ideas? I understand the algorithm, it's LLVM that I don't understand. For

usb disconnects
Hello, just joined to the list, because i have a problem. :S We have 2 exact same configuration: basic Fujitsu server + Eaton NV1000H ups. OS is Debian Squeeze. According to the driver list, the ups uses the blazer_usb driver. I never tried nut before, so i read some of the docs, and configured it manually. The problem pops up when i try to simulate the power-outage. I just unplug the ups'

I''m attempting to setup Squid as shown on: http://shorewall.sourceforge.net/Shorewall_Squid_Usage.html#DMZ The firewall is a Bering 1.0 firewall running Shorewall 1.3.11, Red Hat 7.2 on the server in the DMZ.
