core dump running modreg-Ex.R (PR#1002)

This worked in R-1.2.3. It looks like there were a number
of cosmetic changes to the modreg Fortran sources since R-1.2.3.
SGI MIPSPro f90 was used to compile modreg, e.g.:
f90 -OPT:IEEE_NaN_inf=ON -KPIC -O2 -c sslvrg.f -o sslvrg.o
$ dbx ../../bin/R.bin
