Why ''xm console'' not works sometimes?
Hello,
I''m using Red Hat AS 5 with Xen 3.0, and sometimes ''xm console'' does not
work, the most of times when I''m trying to connect one full-virt machine
with different arch from server, for example:
[root@xen-5 ~]# xm list

Network Problem after update 3.0 -> 3.1: blkback
Hello,
I have a big problem:
Dom0 is centos5.1, domU are centos5.1. My setup is really simple, the
only thing is that I give 3 nics to the domU so I use a modified network
script (which has worked since january... since fedora 6):
"
#!/bin/sh
dir=$(dirname "$0")
"$dir/network-bridge" "$@" vifnum=0

zaptel compile question
Hi all,
I am wanting to use an option from the ./configure script with zaptel to
compile zaptel for a different kernel than the running kernel.
How do I do that exactly.
Example:
Current kernel is 2.6.18-8.1.4.el5
and I want to compile zaptel for 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5
I am using centos 5.1 or RHEL 5.1
So when I reboot zaptel is ready to go. How do I do that?
Thanks,
Jerry

Interim RPMs for vmsplice() issue
Howdy all,
I compiled a set of kernel RPMs with the upstream kernel patch applied.
Obviously they haven't gone through the full QA process, but I know of
them running on approximately 50 servers without any reported issues.
They're available at:

local root exploit
I saw that there is a local root exploit in the wild.

And I see my centos box still has: 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5
yum says there are no updates... am I safe?

Xen dom0 memory
I just discovered that my xen hypervisor only believes that it has 3199
MB of memory, when there are 4GB inside the computer. I don''t know how
long this has been this way, but I do not know how to try and force the
hypervisor to realize how much memory it has. Any ideas how I can
accomplish this?
I am running CentOS 5 (RHEL 5), kernel 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen, x86_64, xen
3.0.3.

Problem with CentOS 5.1 / Xen / Migration : domU time
Hi all,
I'm having issue with my Centos 5.1 /Xen installation.
I'm having 2 dom0 running 2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen (x86_64).
These two dom0 are connected to a SAN.
These two dom0 hosts multiple domU like Centos 4.5 (2.6.9-55.0.9.ELxenU)
and Centos 5.1 (2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen).
These two dom0 run ntpd to synchronize dom0 time.
When i start a virtual machine on the first dom0 all seems good, the

VMWare Server -- Which Kernel is Best

Summary: CentOS is not getting optimal performance in a virtualized
environment and on slow cpus
but I am not sure I understand the current best practice. Your thoughts
would be appreciated.
Options as I see them:
1. Run kernel-vm-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5 with clocksource=pit until the
excellent CentOS team builds the latest kernel into a VM kernel

5.1 Upgrade Not Working?
So both "yum upgrade" and "yum update" now are complete and there's no
new packages. However, when I attempt to check my version, I'm still
showing 5.
# cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 5 (Final)
I remember seeing 5.1 repositories being access for the upgrades. Is
it possible my system did not upgrade?
# uname -r
2.6.18-53.1.4.el5.centos.plus

CentOS 5.1 and Xen - mount: could not find filesystem ''/dev/root''
Hi all-
I''m hoping someone can help me with this problem with Xen under CentOS
5.1 (RHEL 5.1) I''m having... This is the Xen package that comes stock
with the distribution, I didn''t compile it from source. I can boot
Domain0 and the hypervisor just fine. I''m trying to bring up a Xen
guest VM and it crashes on boot, with this error:

design question
Ladies and Gents,
Researching the problem with DRBD 0.8 and OCFS2 not
being able to mount...
It appears to me the same problem has been reported,
yet no fix was posted on the news group...
In any case, my env. looks as follows:
drbd-8.0.6-1.el5.centos (primary/primary)

I want to install Hylafax+, IAXmodem, and T38modem on my Trixbox 2.4
which is built on Centos 5.1 ("vmlinuz-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5").
Over at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=148904
there are Hylafax+ rpms for:
Fedora 7,8
Fedora Core 2,5,6
Redhat 7,9
I **think** Fedora Core 6?

Xen clock drift
Hello All,
Consider a CentOS-5.1 Xen server (2.6.18-53.1.4.el5xen) hosting two
domains running CentOS-5.1 (2.6.18-53.1.4.el5). One domain has a fairly
accurate clock, the other domain has a clock that gains ungodly amounts
of time, roughly one minute every two or three minutes. For a fix, one
suggestion is to run this command in DomU:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock

CentOS 5.1 and Xen HVM guest networking problem
I've asked this on the Xen users list, but had no response so far:
I'm running CentOS 5.1 with all current updates:
xen-libs-3.0.3-41.el5
xen-3.0.3-41.el5
kernel-xen-devel-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5
kernel-xen-2.6.18-53.1.4.el5
and have a domU config file from another (5.0) server which works. The
difference is that on the new machine I want to use routed rather than
bridged networking. In

tick_divider
Just installed CentOS 5.1 on VMware ESX and am attempting to play with
the newly added tick_divider feature. It doesn't seem to be making any
difference in the number of timer interrupts though. I set
tick_divider=10 which should reduce the number of timer interrupts to
100.
I wrote a nasty little scripts that queries /proc/interrupts every 1
second and still see an increase each second in
