I want to get a better understanding of what's happening between the posix permissions and windows permissions. I start with a Samba 4 AD DC with a share: /mnt/data All subfolders and files have permissions and ownership that look like: drwxrwxrwx. 539 root root 52K May 12 17:50 The Samba 4 Admin and User accounts are not local users on the linux server; they are only AD domain accounts. The /mnt/data share is set read only = no. I thought the AD DC ignores the posix ownership and permission settings, and they are controlled by ADUC settings via windows too...

Hi guys, when trying to do anything dns related on a samba4 dc (additional dc which should replace an 2003 server) I always got an "WERR_DNS_ERROR_DS_UNAVAILABLE" error. The zones seem to be replicated to the samba server as i can dig whatever record I want and it gets resolved, I am just unable to manage anything on the samba server. Good afternoon. I am trying to make a 32M DiskonChip2000 boot Linux (kernel version 2.2.20) but I'm having difficulty. It begins fine, loading most of the kernel, but halts immediately after the "Freeing unused kernel memory: 52K freed." step. This file, lapdscd, is 2K won't copy even using Windoze Explorer. There is another file, Lapdscd, that is 52K. It will copy. Notice the capitalization? It is Samba 2.2.6. Hi all! Does samba support AES encryption for use with Win2008 controller domains? If so, why automatically generated krb5.conf still contains only RC4-HMAC DES-CBC-CRC DES-CBC-MD5? Also, why this file contains "preferred_enctypes" parameter which I can't find in "man krb5.conf"? And last question: would samba use system krb5.conf if I set "create krb5 conf=no"?
