IAX Codec
...G.729a, G.711u and G.711a codecs.
I know that Digium is selling G.729 codec on there website. Should I get
that to fix my problem?
The less bandwitdh the codec takes over the Internet the better chance I
have that it will work fine I presume.
The maximum upload speed I can reach is 64k/sec so 512kbits. But that's
if there's nothing else using the internet. I see that G.729 use 8kbps
per call which seems quite small. The sound quality is good enough for
SIP to SIP phones over the Net?
Thanks

CBQ_bandwidth
Hi Stef,
Reffering to page < http://www.docum.org/stef.coene/qos/faq/cache/7.html
> I found a para as follows,
" CBQ is not always as accurate as it should be. See docum.org on the
test page for some tests with bounded classes. The algorithm used by cbq
is very "link sensitive". It calculates the link idle time and for that
it needs the real link bandwidth, average

Extending Wondershaper a bit
...ebian box in the middle as my firewall with 3
network interfaces and a wireless one. I use Shorewall to configure
everything and it works. I masquerade LAN, LOC and DMZ towards internet and
have extra rules for hiding the local lan from the wlan, etc. I have a
Cistron MAXX abo to the internet (8192/512kbits).
Then I wanted to use QOS, so I patched my 2.4.18 kernel with HTB, and used
the Wondershaper 1.1a. It works! I see three classes, with traffic in all
three of them. But it only diferentiates between types of traffic, and I
would like it to diferentiate based on the source of the packets. I would...

Shaping question - tunnel
Hello,
I''m being confrunted with the following situation and I''m trying to
find the simplest solution possible as to also be easier to manage.
1)
I have:
ISP1 ------ S1 (linux)
S1''s got:
512kbits external bandwidth from ISP1
20Mbits MAN bandwidth not including ISP2
17Mbit tunnel connection which provider : 1 Mbit external bandwidth
and 16Mbit MAN bandwidth with ISP2
HTB and IMQ are placed on S1.
2)
I want to be able to guarantee a piece of bandwith for each user (like
128kbits MAN witho...

htb traffic shaping problem
...1:99. The problem is that, while 1:10 is slowing
the connection down to a degree, it''s nowhere near the set limit. For
example: the connection will start out around 50kBps, and then suddenly
bounce to over 1MBps, far exceeding it''s 64kBps setting.
Setting the parent down to 512kbits seems to work correctly, but it
cripples the local network.
Can anyone point out what I''ve done incorrectly, or is this a bug?
Thank you.

Theory test
Guys
Considering the festive season is upon us, thanks to everyone
contributing to the list and helping all the readers with your great
input! I don''t want to mention names, I''ll most certainly leave
someone out.
With this mail I''d like to test some theory on bandwidth management,
with my own successes and failures during the past year.
