ddos attack causes high ksoftirqd cpu use
Hello List! I got a small (50mbits or so) application layer ddos attack against a few name servers (thousands of IPs sending lots of bogus A record requests - weird) - one of the name servers was behind a shorewall firewall. That firewall was running a 2.6.18-194.11.1.el5 kernel and shorewall-4.4.11.1-1. I noticed that the sho...

Slow write time to samba 2.0.5a from DOS
...is the write speed from DOS to the samba-provided share - I am seeing 64KB/s (kbytes/sec) maximum, even though the link is 100MB. Rudementary tests with large ping packets conservatively indicate a link speed of 20-60Mbits/sec, and the DOS box can *read* from the samba share at a rate of at least 50Mbits/sec. However, as mentioned this drops to the order of 0.7Mbits/sec when writing from DOS. This happens regardless of whether the link is operated at 10Mbps or 100Mbps, in full or half duplex. I have tried many different configuration settings on both the samba and DOS ends. These include the su...

tinc throughput on alix machines
Hi, I've setup a wlan ap using a an alix 2d2 (AMD Geode LX 500 Mhz + AES Offload) and am now trying to encapsulate the wlan traffic into a vpn (tap bridge). Though even when disabling crypto and digest (there is a crypto engine onboard can be setup to handle tinc encryption), the best throughput I get is aroung 2,9 MByte per second (wget+http) (even if the client is run locally). The network

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 7903] New: Cannot complete sync
...: wayned at samba.org ReportedBy: triune at gmail.com QAContact: rsync-qa at samba.org I'm using rsync to mirror a 2TB archive from a LOCAL machine to a REMOTE one. The initial sync was performed over a 1gbit lan. Now, it is being performed over the internet with 2 servers at 50mbits. I've tried everything mentioned in the FAQ and other places to remedy this problem to no avail. I've tweaked my ~/.ssh/config to keep it alive (client/server), and changed some of the rsync settings to keep it active and not timeout. However, the problem persists. I've attempted to log...
