Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
Sorry for the delay, we were too busy drinking and playing with explosives yesterday. :) Here are some tests. We did one on a similar machine and it worked. We deleted the configuration file, obviously. # Dell OptiPlex GX620 ISOLINUX 5.11 5.11-pre7 isolinux: Starting up, DL = 82 isolinux: Loaded spec packet OK, drive = 82 isolinux: Main image LBA = 00000115 isolinux: Image checksum error,

Syslinux 5.11-pre7 not working
Hi, I am a happy user of version 4.06 and have been hoping to upgrade the 5.x series (for the HTTP bits). I have the following problems with the 5.11-pre7 build: 1. TFTP load is horribly slow ... even when the two REAL machines are connected to the same switch. For a typical RHEL installation, the vmlinuz loads ... the initrd.img loads very very slowly and just times out (I waited over 10 mins)

Redefine ethX interface names in CentOS 5.11?
Hi, I have a LAN server running CentOS 5.11 with two NICs eth0 and eth1. I'd like to swap the interface names, but I don't know how to go about that under CentOS. Here's what I would do on a Slackware server (I have one next to me in my office). Open /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and edit it: # PCI device 0x8086:/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:04.0/0000:03:00.0 (e1000e)

how to update from 5.8 to 5.latest?
Hi! I revived an old disk with CentoS 5.8 on it and want to update it to 5.latest (=5.11). However, it insists on getting 5.8 files. From the past I remember I would get a major release jump from 5.n to 5.m automatically. Or do I remember this wrong? I googled a bit around, but couldn't really find something similar. How do I update now? The repo file looks exactly like on machines that

I just pushed out a 5.11-pre1 with a version of the patch that only changes the internal representation of PATH. Could

install woes
I'm really at a loss. I had 5.11 running on this machine, from this physical boot disk, until I stepped on /bin the other day. I've tried installing Centos 5.10 and 5.11 to this Seagate 1TB drive. Both installs run perfectly, but when I try to reboot, grub says Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0xee googling this indicates that the disk has a GUID partition table. This must have
