Size of box for 4xE1 conf bridge?
Hi, can anyone tell me approximately how powerful a PC would be
required to support Asterisk running mainly as a conference bridge
using MeetMe with up to 120 channels (not all in the same conf)
on a single TE405P 4xE1 card?
I've read through http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+dimensioning
and it sounds like one or two 3GHz CPUs should do it, but if anyone
reading has direct experience of this kind of application, I'd be
very grateful for any comments.
Thanks
Tony

Multi-SPAN (4xE1) Zap Group (Outbound)
Hi,
Can someone point me to a zapata.conf example that will create a
single DIAL OUT
group including all 4 spans on a TE4XXP?
One friend says to change the group number all to "1" on all 4 spans.
Another suggestions says it is possible to have these unique groups (1-4)
and to combine all 4 into a single group "5".
I like the second suggestion best.
Can you guide me to the

High capacity voicemail
Hi,
Does anybody has experience with high capacity PSTN voicemail and
asterisk, running more then 5k mailboxes for PSTN users ?
How many mailboxes can I serve with 4xE1 card if we assume that we
have enough harddrive
capacity. What would be server requirements. Would the CPU load be the
same when storing
voicemails in gsm format as compresing to gsm for ip calls ?
Any hints would be greatly appreciated

dahdi_tool shows no alarms, but no line connected
Hi,
I'm using Sangoma's wanpipe together with dahdi, all
software downloaded today at most recent version.
Hardware is Sangoma A104, a 4xE1 card.
Installation went well.
Anyway, wanrouter status shows a different result than
dahdi_tool or dahdi_scan.
I've just put a hardware loop on port 1. All the other
ports are open.
wanrouter status shows the expected result:

MeetMe CPU resources
Hello,
We would like to have a conference with 15 users aprox. We think that
Pentium 4 3GHz and 1GB of RAM should be enough. Only Asterisk running.
We wonder if somebody has some other experience, good or bad.
We will use Asterisk 1.2 (it is a small and short project for only
this).
Thanks!

pre-installation jitters
...fresh installation ?
Another issue I would like to request some advice on is in two parts:
a) Analog ports, FXS or FXO variety, most probably FXO variety. Can I do 20 FXO ports on an asterisk server ? if not, any examples of a "large" number of FXO ports ?
b) Digital ports, I assume 4xE1 ports are available from Varion, or from Digium (not supported by them though) but what about "cheap" channel banks, that are economical and no frills, good for loop start/ground start with no polarity reversal, FXS variety. Any suppliers of these devices, please contact me off list. (haq...

Multiple E1s on one box
Hello all,
Has anyone tried 8xE1 in one box using Asterisk and Digium boards ?
What is the CPU needed for sustained performance in this capacity ?
Is this affected if G.729 codec is used ?

Jorge A.
