changing cex pointwise in lattice
Dear R-users,
I have tried, and I imagine it should be somewhere in the lines of passing extra arguments to the panel function, but does anyone know how to change the character expansion factor that is affecting an individual point in each of the panels of a lattice plot?
I have tried to pass an overall cex argument containing the desired size for each point, but then the sizes are reused for the

histograms resulting from call to soil.texture
Hello,
Using the dataset below I produce a soil.texture plot (R code for this
included at the end). One will notice I have plotted the points based on
whether or not they are in a region called 'upstream' or 'downstream'. I'm
curious if there is a way to somehow extract counts of the number of points
(red points and blue points) falling within each classification (e.g. silty

Calculating mean for a number of columns
Dear all,
I am attempting to perform what should be a relatively simple calculation on a number of data frame columns. I am hoping to find the average on a per-row basis for each of the 50 columns. If on a particular row a 'NA' value is encountered, then this should be ignored and the mean formed on the basis of the other rows.
However, I'm finding that the end result for each row

I am wrestling with the following in creating a barplot in R:
I have a data set with 18 entries. It is plotted in a bargraph. The x-axis should have 18 tick marks each with its own label. What happens is, only a few labels are shown; there is not enough space for all labels. The tick marks are concentrated on the left side of the axis.
I'd like to have all labels shown, in vertical direction.

package for saving large datasets in ASCII
Hi,
I have made a tiny package for saving dataframes in ASCII format. The
package contains functions save.table() and save.delim(), the first
mimics (not completely) write.table() and the second uses just
different default values, suitable for read.delim().
The reason I have written the functions is that I have had problems
with saving large dataframes in ASCII form. write.table() essentially

I loaded a drawing with plenty of layers and then clicked on the layer drop down menu a couple of times before exiting ProgeCAD.

Subsetting to unique values
I want to take the first row of each unique ID value from a data frame.
For instance
> ddTable <-
data.frame(Id=c(1,1,2,2),name=c("Paul","Joe","Bob","Larry"))
I want a dataset that is
Id Name
1 Paul
2 Bob
> unique(ddTable)
Will give me all 4 rows, and
> unique(ddTable$Id)
Will give me c(1,2), but not accompanied by the name column.
