Slow ldap membership query in large active directory
...oups a user is a member of. This request is sent about 3 to 4 times per second (yes, this is a design flaw, but we cannot easily change it or enable caching): We noticed that the query to get all the gidNumbers of the courses the user is a member of takes about 370ms, while a simple query takes 47ms (including bind/unbind). See the test results below. Why is a query on the member attribute so expensive? I would have assumed that this very common query would be optimised like an index user => [groups], so that you only need to get the gidNumber attribute of the remaining groups. Or mayb...

GXP-2000 Audio Quality
...computers are connected to the PC port on the phone because there is no available second wiring. Can anyone suggest how to configure the QoS settings on the phones, the Dlink and the Netopia? While there was "no traffic" on the wire, pinging from/to the Asterisk box gave me about 47ms latency. When we went passed the 4th call, the latency started increasing significantly and when we got to 8 calls, the latency was up in the 2000ms. massive performance problems if transferring many sma ll files
...ace the, time it takes samba to respond goes up significantly with the more files in that directory. In tests with an application doing basically a findfirst for every file gave the following results: Directory with 3000 files Reply for 'file found': 16ms Reply for 'file not found': 47ms Directory with 9000 files Reply for 'file found': 31 - 62ms Reply for 'file not found': 125ms Directory with ~17000 files Reply for 'file found': 100 - 200ms Reply for 'file not found': 250ms These were rough timings but you can see the trend.
