Advice on vlans and pppoe
My telco is moving to feeding me over fiber, breaking out with a media
converter to one Ethernet interface. At present, I am retaining the
static feed over copper on eth0, and taking the two new feeds via vlans
on eth1. I have configured the static IP feed on eth1:790 as vlan 790,
and that seems to be fine, and eth1:780 as the PPPOE feed, and brought
up PPPOE to give me an IP, that is

I want to shaping FTP traffic.
Dear. folks
I want to shaping FTP traffic.
I can get following information from Stef Coene's Homepage, www.docom.org.
"Ftp uses random ports, so matching the data traffic is not easy. However it can done if you use iptables to mark ftp-data packets and use that mark with the fw filter. For more info see http://home.regit.org/connmark.html. "

OpenSuse 10.3 - Xen 3.1.0 - VIF for DomU not recording transmitted bits correctly
I would like to track DomU bandwidth usage from Dom0 but my OpenSuse
Xen install is not tracking DomU bandwidth correctly. My DomU guests
are able to access the network and therefore the networking layer
appears to be working correctly. It just doesn''t report the traffic
correctly in ifconfig.
I am currently running OpenSuse10.3 with Xen 3.1.0_15042-51.3 running
a xen kernel

On a side note, try recently released health report tool, and see if it
does diagnose any issues in setup. Currently you may have to run it in all
the three machines.
