Avaya 9608G and DHCP and TFTP and HTTP oh my
...program up each phone is via the craft interface? Every other phone I've ever used requires a configuration file, which has the MAC address of the phone as its name. The Avaya phones must have some other method. Unless I have to embed the mac address and particulars for all the phones into the 46xxsettings.txt file?? How do I get the phone number and authentication into the phone if it isn't looking for (for example) 50CD22B47C00.cfg or the like?? These are all the files it attempt to read, from /var/log/httpd/access.log: 10.1.138.245 - - [06/Mar/2018:10:19:09 -0600] "GET /voipcfg/96x1Supg...

Avaya 9608G and DHCP and TFTP and HTTP oh my
...asic. I think it has to do > with DHCP, specifically, what options I'm offering the phone via DHCP. So you might want to start without configurations from DHCP. Enter the file/http server in the phone manually and point it to a http server containing the needed firmware files and a correct 46xxsettings.txt for you asterisk. Avaya uses other dhcp options for these phone (242): https://downloads.avaya.com/elmodocs2/one-X_Deskphone_Edition/R1.5/output/16_300698_4/admn054.html BTW these phones are a terrible waste when used with Asterisk. They only provided minimal functionality (calls and transfer...

Avaya 4610sw SIP setup problem
...o days over this problem... I did *a lot* of Googling around, I searched the list archives to no avail - no one has the same problem! I have two Avaya 4610sw phones. I installed the latest SIP firmware using the TFTP server. So far everything looks good. Each time the phone boots, it retrieves the 46xxsettings.txt from the TFTP server. My problem is that the SIP PROXY, SIP DOMAIN and SIP REGISTRAR are simply ignored. The phone does take into account other values (WEB PROXY, etc), but it keps displaying "Registering..." for ever. When I check the IP adresses, the SIP Proxy and Registrar fields a...

Avaya and Asterisk
So far I have not found a way that I can register the Avaya phone with Asterisk. From what I have found so far is that Avaya phone needs the Avaya Media Server and Avaya Gateway. Looking at the h.323.conf (in Asterisk) and the file 46xxsettings.txt (avaya file located in tftpboot) there are no settings to make the phone initialize. I have sent an email to the Asterisk Users Mailing List to see if anyone has done it before. I will investigate some more and I hope that someone from the mailing list will answer. Katerina

Avaya 4620 SW SIP Config - not setting Proxy/Registrar
I'm using the latest SIP firmware from Avaya. The phone receives the 46xxsettings.txt OK, and then after entering extension and password it goes to the home screen saying 'Registering'. When I check options->ViewIPSettings->IPAddresses on the phone, the registrar and SIP Proxy fields are blank. I have both lines: SET SIPREGISTRAR "67.1XX.XX.XX" and SET 6...

Avaya 9608G and DHCP and TFTP and HTTP oh my
...ot is r-x to everyone, so are all the subdirectories, and the avaya files are all 744 (owned by root.) It contains an index page that just says "hello world" and all the config and upgrade files I downloaded from Avaya. But the phone never looks for anything on this server. It's got 46xxsettings.txt 96x1Supgrade.txt and some tar files and bin files. But the tcpdump tells me it never checks. 1. The docs I've been able to find talk about DHCP option 242 and 176, which I've never used before. All I know about are options like this: pool { range dynamic-b...

SER Still recommended for large installs?
I'm reading some information that recommends using SER / OpenSER for large installation to offload SIP traffic from the Asterisk server. http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+at+large However, it looks like the information might be dated. I'm looking at a potential 750 SIP phone and 150 Analog installation, all internal network, PRI trunks, and am trying to nail down an
