Aggregate values in one dataframe into a list of vectors of different sieze
Hi everyone, I have a data frame that is quite huge (dozens of millions of lines). It looks like this : Name      Value Name1    156 Name2    458963 Name3    758 ... Name143 89325 Name1     4678 Name42   766 Name144 777 ... Name2     46767 ... Each name and and value has no predefined length and may be repeated any number of times. My goal is to have a list (aggregating the numbers relative to each name, so to obtain a data frame which looks like this: Name     Values Name1   156, 4678,....

Adding a new variable to each element of a list
...once (other than using a for loop). I am able to index an existing variable from each element of a list (using lapply or sapply, based on the examples from http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1355355/how-to-avoid-a-loop-in-r-selecting-items-from-a-listand http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/help/05/05/4678.html), but I can't figure out how to *set* a new variable for each element in a list. Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you, Steve Polizer-Ahles -- Stephen Politzer-Ahles University of Kansas Linguistics Department http://people.ku.edu/~sjpa/ [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

tls library message won''t go away
Hello, I''m trying to upgrade to using the "boxed" xen supported on FC4 after having it working fine for a while on a manual installation on FC3. I upgraded the host operating system with the FC4 cdroms, and it went mostly fine (after I turned off SElinux...)
