Plan for libguestfs 1.28
It has been an amazing 6½ months since the last stable release of libguestfs. I'd like to plan a new 1.28 release soon. Please follow-up if there are features / blockers / bugs that need to be addressed for 1.28. As usual, bugs which have "1.28" (without quotes) in the Devel Whiteboard field in Bugzilla are nominated as blockers for the release. You can see a list of those here

...it appears to be benign? The rational is that formerly the compile units and subprogram definitions were made into a single occurrence after linking, which really messed up the debug info. Why does verifyFunction dislike this?
I am programmatically building some functions in intermediate representation, and trying to verify them, but the verifier always reports that there is a problem, and I can't see why. This patch allows optimizer to remove debug info for functions that are still present in the module. Plus, very soon (as soon as 2.6 release branch is created) the LLVM IR will stop using GlobalVariab...

S+ style implementation of GAM for R?
Hi, I've got the R library "mgcv" for GAM written by Simon Wood which works well in many instances. However, over the years I got attached to the S+ implementation of GAM which allows loess smoothing in more than 1 dimension as well as spline smoothing. Has anyone ported the S+ GAM library to R? partial residuals in plot.gam()
All, Sorry for bombarding you with GAM related questions, but... I know a partial residual option in plot.gam() is on Simon Wood's todo list, but since I'm in the midst of a project and not yet having acquired sufficient R knowledge to code something usable myself I'll have to put my trust in you. Anybody got some code lying around for doing this? Or if someone can supply me with

gam and step
hello, I am looking for a step() function for GAM's. In the book Statistical Computing by Crawley and a removal of predictors has been done "by hand" model <- gam(y ~s(x1) +s(x2) + s(x3)) summary(model) model2 <- gam(y ~s(x2) + s(x3)) # removal of the unsignificant variable #then comparing these two models if an significant increase occurs. anova(model, model2,
