incorrect behaviour of formals (PR#4511)
Full_Name: Jörg Polzehl Version: 1.8.0 OS: Windows XP Submission from: (NULL) (62.141.176.1) I encountered a problem when playing with the mle library and specifying negative starting values for the parameters. The reason seems to be an incorrect behaviour of function formals: glike<-function(a=1,b=1,c=1) a > formals(glike) $a [1] 1 $b [1] 1 $c [1] 1 > unlist(formals(glike)) a b c

interpreting an LME regression result...
...#39;ll do it!!) My boss has me learning R and doing nested regression with the report due Mon (Friday night statistics...fun. ). Anyway, here's my problem: In a regression equation not accounting for the fact that people are nested in families, the result for Z variable is VERY strong (beta = -4511), but this result is much weaker when I use lme and account for people nested in families (beta = -2613). I'm struggling with a verbal interpretation of this result. Is it because the effect of Z within families is not very strong, but between family variation is high? --------------------...

Dovecot 2.2.7/2.2.8 failing to call dspam with antispam
Hello again, I'm running Gentoo AMD64 2013 with postfix, mysql, dovecot and dspam : dovecot 2.2.8 (it was working fine with 2.2.6 after doing a chmod 4511 on dspam binary), dspam 3.10.2-r1 and dovecot-antispam-2.0_pre20130429 (recompiled after each dovecot upgrade). I've set dspam to debug, and mail_debug to yes. uid 1001 is user vmail (dovecot is running under vmail) gid 12 is group mail (vmail is a member, with mail,postfix,dspam,dovecot,a...

View source after AJAX update?
Does anyone know how to view the new source in IE after an AJAX update? When I "view -> source" I get the original page source, not the page source as updated. Dark Secret of Winbind
First of all hello to everybody on this list. Question 1: I?m having a little (?) problem with winbind. To be short here is the situation: Runnign w2k AD on native mode. Linux box is Red Hat 7.2 with 2.4 kernel. Authentication from my W2K Active Directory server fails. Dovecot2 Antispam plugin questions
Tried to find some doc on this (other than the c code), couldn't, so, asking. I do almost every programming language, except C! When using DSPAM backend with this tool, will the plugin send ONLY the signature and not the entire message to dspam for retraining? Concerned about very large emails. If this is the case, I'd rather do this than use say the mailtrain backend which I presume

New Adobe Reader works on CentOS-4.x, speech synthesis reader & more.
Just and FYI. In RPM form, works on 4.x and I will try on 5.x too. Speech is tacky, but if I can get something but the Gnome Festival synthesizer, maybe it will improve? http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html?promoid=BONRM -- Bill

Performance note: Preallocating helps? and two questions
hi- in r 1.1 on windows 2000 with length(AU) of 35833 AUcap30<-0 for(i in 1:length(AU))AUcap30[i]<-min(30,AU[i]) took over an hour on pentium II 300 mhertz (I esc'ed before it finished) but AUcap30<-AU for(i in 1:length(AU))AUcap30[i]<-min(30,AU[i]) is very quick (a few seconds) Is this performance difference common in r (ie is linux the same way)? Are there other tricks
