Nut and UPSes+ATSes
Is there any documentation somewhere about how NUT can incorporate
automatic transfer switches into its monitoring and operational
framework to provide more comprehensive operational functionality?

upsd/upsc, LISTEN and hostname resolution in master/slave
Hi,
I've been setting up a few Eatons 1500 USB in master/slave mode and run
into what I'm thinking is a hostname resolution problem.
Basically, to avoid hardcoding ips, I'd love to be able to add a LISTEN on
the lan's ip which has hostname, let's say, server1.local .
If I set up upsd.conf such as LISTEN server1.local 3493 what I end up with
is upsd listening on 127.0.0.1 .

Eaton 1500 USB constant disconnections
Hi,
I have a eaton 1500 that connects to an Ubuntu Xenial box via USB. The UPS
works, however exactly *ever 5 minutes* it disconnects and reconnects and I
see this in syslog:
Mar 10 19:50:32 spike kernel: usb 4-5: USB disconnect, device number 103
Mar 10 19:50:33 spike kernel: usb 4-5: new low-speed USB device number 104

Supporting a DIY UPS with minimal effort but maximum gain

recent NUT release milestone had some work that chipped away the technical
barriers to including DMF into the main project.
For a longer version: DMF was designed and developed, fairly well tested
and then a bit abandoned in the 42ITy fork of NUT, which went back to using
upstream NUT for their appliances. The developed code base however for a
long time acts as the source of backports for features and vendor device
nuances into upstream NUT to benefit everyone. That codebase is available

The point for ATS is that a source may be the main, and the other a UPS.

Eaton shows a firmware file:
https://powerquality.eaton.com/Support/Software-Drivers/Downloads/5P-UPS-firmware.asp
However I'm not sure if it is for the questionable EEPROM and if so
maybe it is downlevel from the current reported firmware.

This FW upgrade may fix the EEPROM fault too, but it's not yet confirmed.
Please update me if you go through this upgrade.

Hi Arno,
According to that link, unless I'm missing something, as the 5P2200RT
is a 2U sized unit (2 rack spaces) the proper firmware should be
"03.00.0000". Firmware

So another approach is to "LISTEN 0.0.0.0" (i.e. everything) and use your
