Hello,
I am currently running SAMBA with a
little over 100 people hitting it a day.
These people are pulling large CAD files
through SAMBA. I am going to purchase a
new server to handle this load but i'm
not sure what I should look at for
memory and cpu. I was thinking of doing
a Sun 420R with 4GB of Ram and 4 cpu's.
I really could use some suggestions as
to what I should be looking for.

df -k takes too long only at random times
How do I find out why df -k is taking soo long to respond only sometimes?

Compiling in Solaris 2.8
Hi,
I am trying to build samba on a sun 420r running Solaris 8 with a
SunWorkShop 6.1 compiler.
configure worked well. I selected smbwrapper to be included in the build.
However I get this when it gets to the link:

I have Samba 3.10 on a Sun 420R running solaris 9 as my PDC. At this
time the password back end on the PDC is plain old text smbpasswd file
as we've not had a chance to move it to something more sophisticated -
and we should because that has grown huge - which I am sure doesn't help
this situation.

Sparc?
HI All,
I have acquired a Sun Fire VL 240. I know there is not a SPARC version
of CentOS.
Can anyone recommend a good OS for a machine that will do apache,
postfix, mysql, etc.
I know this is sort of a loaded question, but I don't have a lot of
knowledge on distros that are stable on Sparc.
