zfs diff performance
I had high hopes of significant performance gains using zfs diff in
Solaris 11 compared to my home-brew stat based version in Solaris 10.
However the results I have seen so far have been disappointing.
Testing on a reasonably sized filesystem (4TB), a diff that listed 41k
changes took 77 minutes. I haven''t tried my old tool, but I would
expect the same diff to take a couple of hours.
The box is well specified, an x4270 with 96G of RAM and a FLASH
accelerator card used for log and cache.
Are there any ways to improve diff performance?

Painfully slow NetApp with databas
Hello,
We have long running problem with NetApp filers. When we connect
server to the filer sequential read performance is ~70MB/s. But once
we run database on the server seq read performance drops to ~11MB/s.
That's happening with two servers. One is running Oracle another -
MySQL. During speed tests database load is very light (less than 1MB/s
of reads and writes). During the tests NetApp

Remote index blocks?
Using the Drb allows me to synchronize writes to the index in a multi
mongrel environment. I was under the impression that the remote index
would not block if two mongrels were searching the index. Is that the
case? This line in ferret_server.rb makes me think otherwise:
# Calls are not queued atm, so this will block until the call
returned.

FlashMX creates BAD .swf file on Samba
...esting a Movie in Flash is the same as Exporting the final product, (it
creates the same files)
So:
I Export to Movie on the samba server
and
I Export to Movie on my Local Workstation
(and tried a Networked Win2k Prof box also)
The Export to the Samba server creates a bad .swf.
It's 41k and the good working one (on the Win2k boxes is 12k)
erm.. Where to from here.
.swf files are generally served from a Browser... so
I copied a Working version (and a non-working version courtesy of Samba)
to the Local IIS Server. Expected result. The working one, worked,
the non-working .. y...

Menus, choices and optional parameters
Hi all,
I'm in need of creating a simple menu where two options must be available:
1) (default) Boot from local harddrive
2) start installation
2) option should display a simple text disclaimer and if agreed it then
would ask for a number from 32 to 254 which is then appended to one of
commandline parameters.
I have quite a lot of experience with [sys|pxe|iso]linux and some

Icecast relay crash.
Thanks Philipp.
I agree with you, this looks like some buffer overrun issue. I know I'm
using a very old version of icecast software but still I am asking is there
any kind of workaround to this problem apart from upgrading the icecast
version (which is the last option).
Running Valgrind may help to capture the root cause, any thoughts?
BTW what's the latest stable version of icecast?

Actually, it does. The program tells it, that I don't care to read, what's
currently there, by specifying the PROT_READ flag only.
