Syslinux Mem= greater than 4096M
.... We use syslinux (4.04) to boot a specialized USB distribution of Linux that requires the mem= flag to be added to the syslinux.cfg file. The mem= flag is a requirement as this is a custom kernel distribution that uses kernel modules in a highly specialized manner. I can set mem= all the way up to 4096M, but at 4097 and greater, I get the error message of: Not enough memory to load specified image. We have a boot CD port of this same distribution using the legacy (grub 1) boot, and it accepts mem= to levels tested as high as 8192M. Now, obviously, I'm likely hitting a 32 bit syslinux limita...

set Domain-0 default memory allocation
hi folks, anyone around who knows how to setup grub2 to allow at boot time a static memory allocation for the Domain-0. I use debain squeeze, lates update''s and my actual grub2 config doesn''t work automaticlly at boot time. i configured the arg "dom0_mem=4096M" in the grub.cfg section multiboot as shown bellow: *** menuentry ''Debian GNU/Linux, with Linux 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 and XEN 4.0-amd64'' --class debian --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os --class xen { insmod raid insmod mdraid insmod part_msdos...

Weird xl mem-set behavior
...ling to handle the amount of memory that dom0 gets on some system. It''s a system with 8GB of RAM, running 2.6.38-6 with pv_ops and Xen 4.1 If I want to set the amount of memory for dom0, I get very bogus results. See here: http://pastebin.com/gRgY9ERN If I use the M notation (xl mem-set 0 4096M) the outcome is similarily unpredictable, and sometimes I get the memory set to something like 200-300MB and in rare cases a kernel panic. Also, if I set the "dom0_mem=X" kernel parameter, the amount of memory Xen gives to dom0 is fairly random... sometimes 2GB, sometimes 6GB, sometimes...

...rything is just fine. (the three virtual machines, Dom0 + > 2 x DomU are assigned 1GB of memory each, in both test runs). > Does that help? Is this with the kernel and xen from -unstabele/3.0.3 ? Have you changed the config? What storage device do you have? What NIC? Are you setting mem=4096M on the Xen command line? If you removed DIMMs to get 4GB in the machine some of the memory willl still be mapped above 4GB. It seems hard to imagine this is a lurking 4GB issue (especially on x86_64 rather tha PAE).
