tinc performance relatively slow
------- TL;DR -------
Performance seems slow (around 300-400Mbit peak).
How to improve?
------- The Long Version -------
I tried to test tinc performance for an upcoming project that may need
to use NFS over a VPN. Our current tinc network seems to be able to
transmit at around 30-40 MB/s. (I used an 1GB random testfile to copy
to/from /dev/shm/; using netcat...

Samba and IEE1394
...his might not be the correct group to post to, but maybe somone could
tell me wich groupd it should go to (as I haven't found any good
ones).
I have Windows XP machines with IEE1394 (FireWire) LAN. Windows has
built in support for OHCI compliant cards and can use them as a normal
NIC, but with 400Mbit.
This sollution is cheap and alot faster than normal a 100Mbit LAN. The
problem is now that I want to conect my Linux boxes to this LAN too (I
use Samba for filesharing and a PDC) but haven't found a good way to
make it work.
Does anybode know how to do this, wich drivers/modules need to be

Looking for new ideas to improve linux router performace
Hello,
I have 2 dual CPU Xeon 3Ghz HT enabled Linux routers and each one of them
serving 2 class C with pick traffic on router about 300Mbit full duplex
2 x Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82546GB Gigabit Ethernet
Controller (rev 03)
1GB ram
And
2 x Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5703 Gigabit
Ethernet (rev 10)
1GB ram
Both routers have about 600

Not sure if that could be the case for you, my links are not that fast:
Make sure to disable compression, that is a known CPU hog.

Rsync, what are the max transfer limitations ?
What is the maximum transfer rate allowed for rsync? I mean the limitations?
I can't get more than 50Mbit speed in my gigabit lan, with rsync
server or with ssh. ftp transfers reach >400Mbit , so it is not a lan
or nic problem.
Maybe it has something to do with my cpu limitations? or the
limitations for rsync is the 50Mb/s?
Here is my rsyncd.conf if it helps

Compression was disabled. I've successfully slowed down my connection by
enabling compression (at lea...

poor network performance to one of two guests
G'day, I have a host running two kvm guests. One of them gets very poor network
performance, testing with iperf I get ~10MBit/sec to guest A, >400MBit/sec to
guest B (running iperf between the host/guest). Both guests are using the same
bridge:
Guest A:
<interface type='bridge'>
<mac address='54:52:00:75:24:91'/>
<source bridge='br0'/>
</interface>
Guest B:

Help with b97 HVM zvol-backed DomU disk performance
Hi Folks,
I was wondering if anyone has an pointers/suggestions on how I might increase disk performance of a HVM zvol-backed DomU? - this is my first DomU, so hopefully its something obvious
Running bonnie++ shows the DomU''s performance to be 3 orders of magnitude worse than Dom0''s, which itself is half as good as when not running xVM at all (see bottom for bonnie++ results)
