New to list, got a quota question
...39;%d'
user_query = SELECT pw_dir as home, 508 AS uid, 503 AS gid FROM vpopmail
WHERE pw_name = '%n' AND pw_domain = '%d'
My vpopmail installation keeps the quota information in the mysql
database (pw_shell field) instead of maildirsize. The quota is in
maildir format, e.g. 400M or 50331648S. Unlimited quota is specified as
NOQUOTA.
The question is... Is it possible to make dovecot understand this format
and get it directly from SQL (via user_query, for example) or would it
be easier to reconfigure the vpopmail installation somehow to use
maildirsize?
Thanks!

6.3-RELEASE-p3 recurring panics on multiple SM PDSMi+
We have 10 SuperMicro PDSMi+ 5015M-MTs that are panic'ing every few
days. This started shortly after upgrade from 6.2-RELEASE to
6.3-RELEASE with freebsd-update.
Other than switching to a debugging kernel, a little sysctl tuning,
and patching with freebsd-update, they are stock. The debugging
kernel was built from source that is also being patched with
freebsd-update.

"Old method" bootloader failing with large ramdisk
...;old method"
of passing kernel= and ramdisk= and it appears to
work fine with a "small" initrd but not with a "large"
one. (Small is 4MB, large is 154MB.) I''m sure both
of the initrd''s are properly gzip''ed etc. Unpacked,
the large one approaches 400M.
By doing some kernel startup debugging, it appears
that the large initrd never finds its way into memory.
Or at least not completely or properly.
So I''m guessing that the "old method bootloader"
is having problems with the large initrd. Silently,
I think, as I can''t...

Error: IMAP(user): nfs_flush_file_handle_cache_dir: rmdir(/var/mail) failed: Device busy
Hi,
I am running dovecot 1.1.10 and 1.1.11 on Solaris 10, mailboxes are in
mbox format and served by Solaris 10 NFSv3, the dovecot cache is on
local disk.
Some of my users always had above nfs error and their mailbox usually
very big, over 100M, 400M, or even 800M.

Hi,
I had that problem already. In windows I did this
C:\Programas\R\rw1060\bin\Rgui.exe --max-mem-size=400M
in the icon path of R. You'll have to try several sizes. For me
it worked with 400M. I think R simulates the memory in the hard
disk. Read de R FAQ.

AW: samba ldap and pam without -with-ldapsam option
Hi,
pam's auth section are always ignored, when using
"encrypt passwords = Yes". But you can still use
the account and session sections when you set
"obey pam restrictions = Yes"

thin server processes slowly growing in RAM size
When I initially start up my server I have two thin processes running
that are only about 200M in size. They slowly creep up a few megs an
hour until now a week later they are at 400M and 300M respectively.
I realize that my site (http://wlodb.com) has some intensive pages that
take a couple seconds to render (most notably http://wlodb.com/compounds
) but I''m wondering if this is normal? I usually get about 500,000 page
hits a month.
Should I have a cronjob to restar...

vm_thread_new: kstack allocation failed with vm.kmem_size="1536M"
So, I have a farm of machines runnign 7.1/amd64, all of which have 16 gig of
memory in them. This afternoon, as an experiment, I altered loader.conf
to have these two lines in it:
vm.kmem_size="1536M"
vm.kmem_size_max="1536M"
This is what I do on machines running ZFS - these machines are not, however
running ZFS, and do not have the zfs module loaded. I just wanted to see if

I believe recent versions of R on Windows automatically set memory.limit to
the size of physical memory. For instance, on my 512m machines a
plain-vanilla install of R 1.6.1 returns

Experts,
I''m installing Oracle 9i on Solaris 10 11/06(update 3),I created some

[PATCH 3/3] lib: inspect: tweak limits of package manager files
Tweak the limits of the files of package managers downloaded to list the
installed applications:
- bump RPM 'Packages' up to 500M: Fedora installations upgraded to each
new Fedora release have an ever-growing file, reported to be even
slightly bigger than 400M
- reduce the other files down to 50M: they are usually small, not bigger
than 1M-5M, so 50M is a good enough high threshold

And, as added benefit, or side effect, the memory usage of my gnome
applets has drastically gone down.
I used to see a simple clock-applet having using 800 Mbyte virtual memory or so
and having 400M reported under the "resident memory" column.
Other people also reported such a problem, but it was frequently dismissed
by explanations like "gnome uses a lot of shared memory it is not real
memory".
I now have my clock and other gnome applets running in under 300M virtual,

memory in R
Hi:
I am doing a MCMC algorithm which is well known to
consume much computer memory. And I have a problem
everytime I run my R program. It stopped at certain
iteration and says "can not allocate a vector of 19
kb".
It seems that the computer's memory has been
exhausted. However, it is said that after each
iteration the objects (such as a huge matrix) can be
set to NULL. And the
