What is it doing?
...to complete today but I do have to stop it each day at the end of the work day. But it worries me that it has yet to copy over any files.
Is it really making progress? Or will it take this long to really start copying files over each day I start it?
I expect the total amount copied to be about 400G and about 4 million files.
It is possible to break this up into pieces if that would help.
Thank you for your help and advice,
Perry

i''ve a Problem :)

I did an lvresize /dev/xendata/data-disk -L 400G an it works.
I started the Guest and did an df -h to check the size but there are still
100 G :( Can somebody tell me whats wrong? i dont want to lose my data at the Disk!
The Machine is Debian Lenny and the guest OS also.

Problem with Windows 7 and roaming profiles
Hello together,
we try to setup a samba domain controller with LDAP and roaming profiles for Win7-Clients.
Everything looks fine last Friday but today the clients did not longer save changes to the profiles. There is no error in samba log and also no in the windows log. If I delete a profile from a client it is loaded correctly at next logon, but the changes are not saved at logout.

Yet another zfs vs. vxfs comparison...
...s (My mom always says I am bad with finding things :)
However I noticed a difference when creating a zfs filesystem compared with a vxfs filesystem in the available size. ie.
ZFS
zonedata/zfs 392G 120G 272G 31% /zfs
VxFS
/dev/vx/dsk/zonedg/zonevol
400G 78M 397G 1% /vxfs
They are both build from 4 LUNs of the same size from the same array....
So where did the 8G''s go?
thanks,
//Mike

ERROR: out of memory in receive_file_entry
Hello,
I'm looking for some possible solutions to the out of memory problem when
dealing with very large directory trees.
Client: linux-2.4.20
Server: HP-UX 11.11
rsync version: 2.6.2
Directory size: 400Gbytes
number of files: 3273133
rsync cmd: rsync -avRx --progress --stats --numeric-ids --blocking-io --delete -e ssh hp-ux.server:/path /local/linux/
It seems to fail after consuming roughly 250M of memory and recieving a
little over 3mil files in the file list. Both client and server have 1G

Filename problem (filenames containing slashes aka.\and /)
...ns.. the primary being some of the files are technically not ours to alter without a clients permission (names and all) and you don't understand just how many files there are. There are quite probably thousands of files, spread across _hundreds_ of cds and dvds which comes to a total of roughly 400GB.
As to a Mac server, i'm not sure how much they cost but i'm guessing a lot for what i'm wanting.
I'm planning on building a RAID-5 fileserver running Linux (still undecided on distro) most likely running Netatalk and Samba. The server itself i'm planning for roughly 1TB of s...

[Bug 2263] New: sshd privsep monitor process doesn't handle SIGXFSZ signal
...mal
Priority: P5
Component: sshd
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at mindrot.org
Reporter: plautrba at redhat.com
FreeIPA allocates a random uid range for its use between 200k and 2G.
If an user with uid like 1280000008 logs in, the lastlog file size
jumps to almost 400G as lastlog is defined as a sparse file.
The problem is when PAM with pam_limit module is used and the user has
fsize limit set. When sshd monitor process tries to write lastlog file,
it's already limited by pam_limit as a pam session is opened. And when
the lastlog file is bigger than the fsi...

High CPU Usage After Glusterfs install
Hi Guys,
I have 2 servers with a fresh install of glusterfs and I am seeing a very high CPU load.? I am trying to just do a very basic config to get this started and for the life of me, I don't know what could be causing it.? The CPU goes up to 100% across all 4 CPU's on each gluster node and I am seeing timeouts coming from the vms that I am testing with.? I simply copied the

FSCK of corrupted ext3 filesystem
Hello,
I have a 1.3TB ext3 filesystem that has been in service for about 3 months.
About 6 days ago the Emulex fibrechannel controller logged a SCSI error
and the filesystem changed to RO.
It appears that the filesystem instantly changes to RO and prevents the
journal from working, therefore invalidating the filesystem.
The filesystem was unmounted and a remount was attempted. The mount

ZFS Inexpensive SATA Whitebox
...x at home. So the long and short of
it is as follows: I would like to setup a SATAII whitebox that uses ZFS as
its filesystem. The box will probably be very lightly used, streaming media
to my laptop and workstation would be the bulk of the work. However I do
have quite a good deal of data, roughly 400G. So what I would like to know
is what hardware solutions work best for this ? I dont need to have 2TB of
storage on day one, but I might need it sometime down the road. I would
prefer to keep the price low(400 - 600), but I dont buy house brand
motherboard, or controllers either. So who makes a nat...
