Printing problems with Samba 2.2.3a
...w trying to configure 2.2.3a under Debian GNU/Linux 3.0. I've succeeded with the exception of one printer share. What makes this frustrating is that the share is mostly functional, but I haven't been able to find my problem described anywhere else. We have two HP printers, a LaserJet 4000N and a LaserJet 5N, which I'd like to share using the new SPOOLSS printer functionality. Following the instructions in the Printing How-to, I was able to upload drivers for both printers to the Samba server from an NT4 (SP6a) Workstation. Printing to the 4000N now works flawlessly. My pro...

Printer Pool
Is there a way in samba to create a printer pool like you can do with NT? I have two HP Network Printers (4000N) which I can setup and print to from Win95, no problem. But I want to make the most "efficient" use of the printers, as they are in a lab, sitting right next to each other... Thanks... === Tim --------------------------------------------------------------------- | Tim Winders, CNE, MC...

PCL vs. PCL 6
I am currently using samba to try and replace a windows NT box as the default print server. All is working well except for one printer driver. All drivers were installed from a win2k machine onto the samba print$ share. The problem that I'm having is with a driver for the HP laser jet 4000N printer. The PCL driver works and loads quickly. The PCL 6 driver works, but the properties window loads very slowly. Unfortunately, to convince my boss to switch to the samba server, I'll have to be able to support the PCL 6 at the same speed as the NT box. The boxes are identical in hardw...

Has anyone seen this before?
I'm using samba and cups to allow NT/2k machines to print to an HP LaserJet 4000N printer. The printer works fine except for one in house program. In this one program, all the horizontal lines that should be printed are missing. Originally I thought this was a driver problem, but today, for no apparent reason, it started printing the horizontal lines... but only for the first...

another printing question
...What they are not doing is feeding back the print status, and not all of them are consistent. I have a HP2000C that gives me a failed to open retrying error in the W2k printers window. I have a minolta d350 that always comes back blank, even though there are maybe 50 jobs printing. I have a HP 4000N that does the same thing as the minolta. My system is RH7.3, cups 1.1.15 (the print queues are set up as raw) and samba 2.2.5 (ldd `which samba` shows compiled for cups). Below is the relevant parts of the smb.conf file. Setting printer properties with prnadmin.dll (W2k Resource Kit)
Hi, we are trying to set printer properties with the prnadmin.dll from the windows 2000 resource kit. The printers are shared by a samba 2.2.8a, spoolingsystem is Cups. We are using the windows drivers to process the job, the queues are set as raw-queues on cups. For some models[1] setting the properties via a dumped file works without any Problems. For some other printermodels[2] it

Samaba 2.2.7 and windows printer driver woes
...part of a domain. Testing with a stand alone Windows 2000 professional client with service pack 3 installed. I am having problems setting defaults for the installed printer drivers and I have been unable to load Win98 drivers to go along with the W2k drivers. Printers being tested are an HP LJ 4000n and an HP LJ 8150 using latest postscript drivers from HP's website. When I install the W2K drivers and set the options for each printer, only users in the printer admin group see the customized settings. Normal users only see the default settings that the driver originally installed, not...
