MANOVA Question
I'm running a MANOVA on survey data. The dependent variables are the ranking of each DV. So the respondent was asked to rank 7 different subject lines, each subject line is a DV with what the respondent ranked as datum. I had the code running yesterday, had a computer crash, then had to rewrite plus append some new data. Now it's not working. And I didn't think I'd run into a

using lapply()
useR's, I am trying to find a quick way to change some values in a list that are subject to a condition to be NA. [R/S] strange
Dear R and S People: I have run across something very strange. Here is a function that I wrote for R: boot1 <- function(y,method="f",p=1) { n1 <- length(y) n2 <- n1*p n3 <- n2 - 1 a <- 0.5*(outer(1:n3,1:n3,function(x,y){n2 - pmax(x,y)})) return(a) } and here is the R output: > y1 [1] 9 8 7 3 6 > source("boot1.R") > boot1(y=y1,p=4) [,1] [,2]

Multiple Ploting Colors
I'm trying to use multiple plotting colors in my code. My first "ifelse" statement successfully does what I want. However, now I want anything less than -4.5 to be green and the rest black. I want another "col" argument but can only use one. How could I go about getting separate colors for anything above 4.5 and less than -4.5? plot(three, type="h",

Upgrade from Shorewall 4.4.27.3 to 4.5.0.1
I''d like to ask for clarification on the upgrade procedure using tarballs. In the past, with version 4.4, I have downloaded shorewall-4.4.x.y.tar.bz2 and shorewall6-4.4.x.y.tar.bz2, extracted each, and executed ''install.sh -s'' in each directory. Now there is a new package shorewall-core-4.5.x.y.tar.bz2. As I understand it, with version 4.5, this core package needs to be

Yum missing dependency
I haven't run any updates on my systems recently, but now I'm trying to get them up to date again. When I run a yum update, I get this error: Error: Missing Dependency: initscripts >= 7.93.26.EL-1 is needed by package httpd I did a Google search, but I didn't find anything relating directly to CentOS or RHEL and there was no fix suggested. If it makes a difference, I am running

ATA driver not as good in 4.8 as 4.5?
I have a Lite-On 24102B burner on an Epox 7KXA (VIA 686A southbridge) together with a few SCSI disks. I recently upgraded from FreeBSD 4.5 to 4.7 then almost immediately to 4.8. I've had trouble with the burner since. With FreeBSD 4.5, I used "sysctl hw.atamodes=---,---,dma,---" to set the burner to DMA. Everything then worked fine. As far as I know it was using UDMA33.

Slow Samba writes over NFS
Hello... Currently in the process of upgrading Samba v2.0.10 to Samba v3.0.x, while conducting some minimal testing, it turns-out that Samba v3.0.x is performing slower than Samba v2.0.10. Samba v3.0.x --> Same PC client is accessing the samba share running on Red Hat 4.5 (64bit, HP DL380) which in turn has an NFS mount coming from another SAN attached Red Hat 4.5 (64bit, HP
