network performance degradation in virtio_net in 4.12-rc
Hi I see severe network performance degradation with the kernels 4.12-rc1 and 4.12-rc2 in the network virtio driver. Download rate drops down to about 100kB/s. I bisected it and it is caused by patch d85b758f72b05a774045545f24d70980e3e9aac4 ("virtio_net: fix support for small rings"). When I revert this patch, the problem goes away. The host is Debian Jessie with kernel 4.4.62,

Kernel 4.12 and nVidia Driver
I tried to move to the latest stable kernel (4.12) so I could take advantage of my newest custom system (Intel Core I7 6-core; 64 GB RAM; MSI nVidia graphics card; 2 - 120 GB SSD; 2 - 4TB WD Black) on a UEFI Asrock mother board. I've had the machine for 3-months but I couldn't get it to work until I found out that the Nouveau driver was causing me all the 'hardware' issues. I

Upgrade to Samba 4.12 question
Hello, guys. I?d like to upgrade our Samba 4.11 AD to 4.12. In release notes, REMOVED FEATURES, I see this: ?Retiring DES encryption types in Kerberos. ------------------------------------------ With this release, support for DES encryption types has been removed from Samba, and setting DES_ONLY flag for an account will cause Kerberos authentication to fail for that account (see RFC-6649).? Patches for Samba 4.12.0rc3 for OmniOS
A little summary of building Samba 4.12.0rc3 on OmniOS: The following 4 (5) small patches are needed in order to compile and run Samba 4.12.0rc3 on the latest OmniOS r151032p (OpenSolaris/Illumos variant): 1. ARRAY_SIZE is already defined in <sys/sysmacros.h> on OmniOS, put an #ifndef around it in lib/replace/replace.h (can be ignored but causes a gazillion compiler warnings :-):

Planning the move to 4.12
As some of you may know I run some AD-sites with Samba DCs and DMs. Currently I use the "maintenance mode" release 4.11.11 (packages from Louis ...) and things work fine. My question: Is it recommended to move on to 4.12.x and if yes, why and when? We don't lack any features afaik, but I understand that someday 4.11.x will not be maintained anymore. No hurry, I just want to
