Syslinux-4.06-pre14
Another week, *another* -pre. I'm really planning on this being the last one. The shortlog is appended below. Apart from a better fix for the "disabled menu entry" bug it's only documentation updates. Testing from the last -pre's has been pretty quiet, so as soon as Ady and Matt have tested this one and confirmed that the disabled entry bug is finally gone I'll do the

Syslinux-5.00-pre8
Another prerelease for the 5.00 (elflink) branch should be making its way to the mirrors now. The shortlog for -pre7 to -pre8 is listed below. Just like the 4.06 branch I was really hoping to drop a final release this week. Once 4.06 is out I'll merge that into 5.00. If you can, please test it out and let know any of any bugs you find. Because so much of the core infrastructure is rewritten

Syslinux 4.06 released
Finally, the 4.06 release is out there. Thanks to everyone who helped by submitting patches and testing! Peter snuck in a change at the last minute that fixes the GCC 4.7 MinGW struct layout incompatibility in a different way. Here are the highlights of this release, Changes in 4.06: * Support for NTFS, by Paulo Alcantara. * EXTLINUX: more robust device detection, allow user to

Comments about documentation as of 4.06 - 5.00pre9
The following are some comments about Syslinux documentation as present in version 4.06 - 5.00pre9. 1_ In "./NEWS", the changelog for version 4.04 includes "GCC 4.5 fixes". Maybe the changelog for Syslinux 4.06 should include "GCC 4.7 fixes" (or 4.7.x ?). 2_ In "./NEWS", the changelog for version 4.05 includes "ISOLINUX: remove the .img file

Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
I'm not exactly sure what you need. Is this it? ISOLINUX 4.06 0x513e88f5 isolinux: Starting up, DL = 82 isolinux: Loaded spec packet OK, drive = 82 isolinux: Main image LBA = 0000011D isolinux: Main image read, jumping to main code... I created an iso with isolinux-debug.bin as the boot loader and booted it on that machine. If this is not what you are looking for, what are correct steps?

Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
We have tried compiling the binaries our self and using the pre-compiled in the syslinux tar ball as well. It just locks up with the text we provided. The problem is booting from CD, booting from USB works. I suspect the problem is in isolinux.bin. The CD only fails on this one machine. It works on everything else we tried. 4.06 worked without any issue on this same machine. Parted Magic has been

Plop Boot Manager quit working with 5.10
I have updated syslinux in Parted Magic's test version to the 5.10 release. With 4.06 I booted plop like this: LINUX /boot/plpbt/plpbt.bin Now it says /boot/plpbt/plpbt.bin... ok Booting kernel failed: Invalid argument Other "extras" like IPXE, HDT, memtest86+, chntpw, Super Grub Disk, etc... all work with 5.10. Revert to 4.06 and plop works again. Is this a problem with syslinux

working directory in 5.00pre8 and 4.06
Hello, The following is a comparison of 4.06 and 5.00pre8 behaving differently. I made a floppy image with Syslinux 4.06. I installed ldlinux.sys with: syslinux --directory /boot/syslinux/ --install /dev/fd0 and I added pwd.c32 to the same directory, but I intentionally did not build a syslinux.cfg file. While testing the floppy image in a VM, it correctly boots to the Syslinux boot

FW: pxelinux 5.x, 6.x memtest problem
Additional information: I was tried it with 2 virtualbox (version 4.2.14r86644).1rst: debian weezy with isc-dhcp-server, pxelinux5.01, pxelinux 6.00, tftp-hpa2nd: empty virtualbox booting from virtual network card. So memtest 4.1 and 4.2 worked with pxelinux 4.06 Peter > Date: Fri, 28 Jun 2013 09:02:30 +0100 > From: matt at console-pimps.org > To: coolpet80 at hotmail.com > CC:

Syslinux 4.06-pre12
Hi, I've just pushed out a last -pre release before 4.06 final. The purpose of this prerelease was to make sure that all the build infrastructure is configured correctly and to ensure that the win installer problem is now gone (I've done the build on an F16 machine which should have a working mingw toolchain). Barring any major problems I'll do the final release this week. -- Matt

syslinux 4.06pre11 issues
I've recently purchased an SSD with the goal of having a portable MS-Windows installation, something which Windows 8's "Windows to Go" feature allows (install to, and boot/run from, USB flash device). Housing the SSD in an external Zalman VE300 case allows presenting ISO files as hardware CD/DVD/BD drive with inserted medium. Having the ISO files present, it's tempting

syslinux 5.01 serial regression...
Hi HPA et al, When moving from syslinux 4.06 to 5.01, I found serial output isn't working. The issue reproduces simply [1] and I get back serial output when I move back to syslinux 4.06. I also see a regression in booting locally with 'localboot 0' which give a generic 'failed' error message; likely reproducible there also. Let me know if you need more information and

Dell OptiPlex GX620 can longer boot from CD with syslinux-5.X
Same CD. Any Linux distribution without the 5.X series boots on this machine. We can use 4.06 and it boots just fine. It's not the computer's hardware. Like I said, we can take the CD out of the GX620 and place it in the 9010 and it boots. Put 4.06 on the CD, and they both boot. Sysylinux-6.03 freezes at Loading kernel..., works smooth with 4.06 via SD-CARD
Hi I have tried to install syslinux 4.06 on the SD card again, it works like a charm. I am being very carefull with c32 files from the same version bootloader. No success. I am also unmounting /dev/sdb1 before installing syslinux, as mentioned in the given documentations. In the pasted syslinux.cfg content--- I have also tried using only one DEFAULT directive. No success. syslinux boots

Sorry for the delay, we were too busy drinking and playing with explosives yesterday. :) Here are some tests. We did one on a similar machine and it worked. We deleted the configuration file, obviously. # Dell OptiPlex GX620 ISOLINUX 5.11 5.11-pre7 isolinux: Starting up, DL = 82 isolinux: Loaded spec packet OK, drive = 82 isolinux: Main image LBA = 00000115 isolinux: Image checksum error,
