3GPP and 3Gpp2 Support
Are there any plans to provide support to stream to cellphones ? If my understanding is correct, this requires 3Gpp, RTP/RTSP support. I see that apple has a stream server for this. Randy

OT: Recommendation for EDGE/3GPP SIP phone?
I'm looking to ditch my GSM phone with Cingular and provide my own calling services with Asterisk hanging my phone off the Edge or 3GPP network... Luckily, I have the option (through my employer) of getting a data-only plan. My question is, other than the Nokia E61i or E70, what phones will do SIP-over-EDGE or SIP-over-3GPP? The iPhone doesn't yet have a SIP client, and it's EDGE-only. There are probably knowledgeab...

Should Join Discussion - Fwd: [whatwg] Give guidance about RFC 4281 codecs parameter
...codecs is dependent on the container format, so products that do container conversion have to have tables of code matches. ugh. That's why the RFC is as it is. The RFC suggests that updated information would be done with RFCs, which is a little heavy. The RFC as written formally applies to 3GPP files and 3GPP2 files, but the definitions are applicable for all ISO-family files. As you'll see below, 3GPP has also defined it for avc1 in MP4-family containers, but no spec. or registration authority provides a pointer. We might want to ask IANA whether we could add something to the MIME...

I must say this is a very confusing issue. I generate AAC+ on an open source system which downloaded some code during installation from the 3GPP source. It appears the encoding software is being freely distributed, and hardware which decodes the stream pays a licence fee at point of manufacture. We have such hardware. In a number of locations. One brand has AAC+ only, not AAC. I note VLC also plays the encoded stream. Encoding and decod...

Asterisk disconnecting SIP Calls after 15 Minutes
Hi @ll, I just moved my Asterisk Box and changed the Provider and Internet Access to a full IP Access by Deutsche Telekom. I set up my sip.conf as I found various examples throughout the Net. Calls and some other stuff is basically working. The problem I ran into is, that the outgoing and incoming calls are dropped after exactly 15 Minutes. Solution for this should be setting the

Problem with pjsip
...auth = Biv_Sortie aors = Biv_Sortie Question how can I solve this character problem "@"? 2) resolution of the orange-obs.fr DNS.  I am attaching an extract from the documentation that Orange issued in 2015 SIP/Internet is described in RFC3261 and following. THE SIP/IMS is described by 3GPP standards. It's not the same SIP. In the Internet world, VoIP machines route SIP messages to the IP addresses of the FQDNs of the SIP URIs (VoIP domain). In the 3GPP world, SIP messages are routed to an I/P-CSCF (depending on whether we are in interco or in IPBX) which has a different FQDN from...

Higher Bandwidth at lower quality settings
...I can see that some sort of "lsp" encoding is performed. What exactly does this encode? (I assume lsp means line-spectral pairs) The reason I am asking is I'm comparing the "effective" spectral bandwidth of Speex against the AMR-WB (G.722.2) codec. (Available from 3GPP.org) Speex performs very comparably to AMR-WB until the quality setting drops below around quality 5. At approximately equivalent bitrates AMR-WB maintains the spectral bandwidth better, whereas Speex doesn't seeem to match above 3.5kHz. I was wondering if it would be possible to tweak Speex...

regarding CELP/ACELP/others patentes
Hi All, First of all, I'm sorry if my question is offtopic on this list. In such case please ignore this post and/or contact me directly. I'm asking my questions there because I feel you had similar problem before starting developing Speex. My story: my friend developed 3gpp content creator and he would distribute it in binary form. But there is problem with AMR licensing (the terms are unacceptable for him). VoiceAge asked him to pay some huge amount of USD for (as they said) AMR license. He contacted me to clarify situation with licensing issue. (I'm working...

Preprocessing and Echo Cancellation Notes.
...peech in some cases. The second parameter helped a bit in this case, but I think there might be a smarter implementation yet -- like immediately lowering the threshold once speech is detected, and then raising it gradually based on the previous probabilities? I had also experimented with the 3GPP AMR VAD code (which is, of course, copyrighted) to see how it compares, and it was still better than speex, but speex is still pretty good. 3) denoising: This option was the most interesting. Previously, using an omnidirectional microphone, like that in a notebook or whatnot, to pick up spee...

Well, if this VAD was able to beat the 3GPP VAD, then some people would probably lose their job :) > a) The most interesting thing it does...

Speaking to National Public Radio (USA), the Fraunhofer Institute said AAC has since become the 'de facto standard for music download and videos on mobile phones.' "
