SATA errors in log
Hi,
I have a SATA PCIe 6Gbps 4 port controller card made by Startech. The
kernel (Linux viz1 2.6.32-220.4.1.el6.x86_64) sees it as
Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88SE9123
I use it to provide extra SATA ports to a raid system.
The HD's are all "WD2003FYYS" and so run at 3Gbps on the 6Gbps controller.
However I am seeing lots of instances of errors like this
-----------------------------------------

0x400000 action 0x6 frozen

Sonnet Tempo SSD supported?
Anyone here using http://www.sonnettech.com/product/tempossd.html
with a zfs-capable OS? Is e.g. OpenIndiana supported?
Thanks.

Bonding performance question
I have a Dell server with four bonded, gigabit interfaces. Bonding mode is
802.3ad, xmit_hash_policy=layer3+4. When testing this setup with iperf,
I never get more than a total of about 3Gbps throughput. Is there anything
to tweak to get better throughput? Or am I running into other limits (e.g.
was reading about tcp retransmit limits for mode 0).
The iperf test was run with iperf -s on the server, and iperf -c server
on four clients connected to the same switch.

e-sata
Hi,
Does anybody has any experience with e-sata on CentOS5.2?
- How fast is it? Same as an internal sata?
- Does it support sata-2?
- Does it "hot-plug" like a USB?

Thanks

Re: [CentOS] SATA disk issue
...the parameter. Now there is a new issue
that again appears to be related to the disks. When attempting to
create a Xen guest I ran into problems with the guest OS filesystem
(created on a logical volume) going read only. The volume group in
question here is built on two 500 gig SATA disk set for 3Gbps combined
into a RAID0 md. I traced this down through the dom0 var/log/messages
file to the following error messages:
Nov 7 18:22:43 xen0 kernel: raid0_make_request bug: can''t convert block

"Can't find root device" with lvm root after moving drive on CentOS 6.3
...machine is a couple of months old, and has been stable. While
installing some new hardware, I decided to also clean up the cabling in
the box, since it was a bit messy. In doing this, I probably moved the
boot SSD disk to another port on the motherboard (it has a bunch, 2 SATA
6GBps and 6 SATA 3GBps).
When I booted the box after this, I got a kernel panic, the typical
"Can't find root device".
I read some docs, and first tried to boot from a rescue disc and
reinstal GRUB, but that didn't change anything. Further Googling got me
the rdshell kernel parameter, and that drop...

FireWire in CentOS 5.3
I am being given a digital camcorder.
It uses Mini DV tapes and either connects via typical RCA cables (IE to
a tv) or via FireWire. I don't have the brand on hand, but I was told it
can be ripped to DV like any standard FireWire camcorder (I believe
dvgrab will be sufficient).
I just installed an older FireWire card I have that I used at one point
in Fedora for my iPod. It was a PITA

Strange reboot since 9.1
Hello,
Since FreeBSD 9.1 I have strange problems with the distribution. Some
servers are rebooting without any kernel panic, instanly. First i
thought it's a problem with my KVM system, but one of my FreeBSD under a
Dell R210 have the same problem.
The servers concerned are now:
- Monitoring server
- LDAP test server
- Some other servers, randomly (not in production).
First i thought it's
