D-LINK PoE switch, does it work with cisco or do I need to do the cable trick?
As an alternative to the "expensive" PoE switches out there, I found the D-Link Web Smart DES-1316 switch for just around $400. Now, the issue is, it does 802.3af power and, as I've found out through previous discussions, this original 76?0 series phones (the non G variety) do not use 802.3af. So I'm assuming I just need to use the special cable thing as per

Hey guys, I was wondering what POE solutions are being used ? Ive done some searching on google and found that PowerDsine seems to be good brand. Any comments,suggestions, and experiences on POE hubs other POE products would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve Maroney

There is a way to ensure traffic prioritisation...but it can work out a little expensive. 1. Use 3Com 4400 PWR as your switch. 2. Use 3Com NJ200/NJ220 (US) or NJ205/NJ225 (EU) POE Multiport switches 3. Use 3CNJVOIP-CPOD POE --> 7960 POE/Data splitters for power and data connections to the phone. Cisco 79xx series IP phones
Shawn, That's a complete load of manure. I have an office full of 7960's, they work great with asterisk with the SIP images loaded. I'm about to pick up a lot of 7912's (simple one line phones, same as the 7905 but it has a built in switch). These phones have also been confirmed to work with Asterisk. I would recommend not going directly to cisco, and just find a reseller who
