rails and MSSQL transactions
...FAULT as DefaultValue, DATA_TYPE as ColType, COL_LENGTH(''S_RESIT I''ve tried using transactions in rails but to no avail, if I have 10 windows open and refresh all at once, several windows will produce that error. MS suggests (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B272358): Use a server-side or client-side cursor other than the forward-only and read-only (often called a firehose) cursor. Anyone know how to do this? Help is appreciated. Thanks, Nazar -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Hello, for an application I have to use the latest Windows Installer 3.1 V2 (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B893803&x=10&y=15, available as direct download link here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/1/4/7/147ded26-931c-4daf-9095-ec7baf996f46/WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe). Unfortunatelly the installation fails immediately with an error box popping up: "Unable to find a volu...

NTLMv2, Samba, and Squid
Here is the problem: I'm setting up a new squid proxy server with authentication via Samba and NTLM because the old one died suddenly. The new one is up and running and i have it working; mostly. The kicker is the 2 employees testing Vista (myself and my supervisor) could not authenticate against the server. I say could because through a variety of testing and some lucky reading I found the

sambaRefuseMachinePwdChange policy
Hi, we have a couple of Linux RHEL 5 samba servers in a domain, one as PDC and the other as BDC, and both with LDAP backends samba version is 3.0.28-1 We want pc clients can't change their machine password using sambaRefuseMachinePwdChange policy, so we set it to 1 in LDAP But pc clients still can change their passwords, and we don't see any acces to sambaRefuseMachinePwdChange

Common MS Office and samba file share issue
Hi all, There are many posts on many lists about this issue but no definitive answers. For me the issue came up with a new server running CentOS 5 + samba 3.0.35c + openldap. The recent postings I've seen always seem to have either RHEL 5 or CentOS 5 in common with the provided 2.6.18 kernel. The issue is .doc or .xls files saving and then producing an error about not being able to

Vista SP1, Server 2008 joining NT4/Samba Domain
...e system (LAN Manager authentication level, Encryption of secure channel). But these workarounds do not seem to work with SP1 anymore. Microsoft points out that joining NT4-domains with Vista SP1 and Server 2008 is not supported/tested (Article ID 940268, http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B940268&x=8&y=11). To my knowledge Samba 3.0.x - acting as an PDC/BDC - basically provides NT4-domain functions/services. We tried to join Vista SP1 and Server 2008 to a Microsoft NT4-domain (PDC running NT4.0 SP6a) as well as to a Samba- domain (Samba 3.0.24 [Debian] with LDAP Backe...

RODBC Excel sqlQuery insert into
I have searched the archives for using insert into to update spreadsheets using RODBC and have come up short. So, first off, is it possible? I have put together a dummy xls table (c:\foo.xls)for exploring possibilities of RODBC. Ultimately, I am interested in replacing much of our previous use of vba macros with R ( I'd prefer elimination, but will take what I can get ). In order to

Re: Windows XP machine not connecting to Samba 3.04 after upgrade
Hi, as I wrote before: I'm not able to connect a Windows XP Pro notebook to a Samba 3.0.4 server. All the other machines (most Windows XP Pro, but also a few Windows 2000 and Windows 98) can connect without any problem. This one machine is not part of the NT domain because it needs to connect 1 or 2 times a week only, and is on the road most of the time. The machine could connect

Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4
Hello. Anyone else experiencing Problems with this update ? We do have W2k AD. And Samba Member-Server. This is done via Winbind without using Kerberos. After installing the Update to our AD-Servers. It seems that winbind lost its connectivity. wbinfo -t worked. wbinfo -u showed errors. After removing the update from all our servers, winbind works again. Should I move our configuration to
