[LLVMdev] Easiest way to collect dynamic Instruction execution counts?
Hi, I'd like a simple and fast way to collect the number of times each Instruction was executed in a given run of the application. As far as I can tell, there are a number of approaches I can take: - Use PIN. This would require using DWARF debug info and Instruction debug info to attempt to map instructions in the binary to instructions in the bitcode; not 100% sure how accurate this will

New R function is.nana = is.na & !is.nan
Hello R-devel, Best wishes in the new year. I am writing to kindly request new R function so NA_real_ can be more easily detected. Currently if one wants to test for NA_real_ (but not NaN) then extra work has to be done: `is.na(x) & !is.nan(x)` Required functionality is already at C level so to address my request there is not that much to do. [LLVMdev] Using thin archives when building llvm
I have just committed support to llvm-ar for creating thin archives. The idea of thin archives is that they contain just the symbol table and the path to find the original .o files. By locally making thin archives the default I was able to build llvm+lld+clang with them. The total size of the .a files goes from 181,658,164 to 7,116,900 bytes. Is there any way to do that with cmake without having

[Rd] source(echo = TRUE) with a iso-8859-1 encoded file gives an error
I have very little knowledge about file encodings and would like to learn more. I've read the following pages to learn more: http://stat.ethz.ch/R-manual/R-devel/library/base/html/Encoding.html https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4806823/how-to-detect-the-right-encoding-for-read-csv https://developer.r-project.org/Encodings_and_R.html The last one, in particular, has been very

Extreme bunching of random values from runif with Mersenne-Twister seed
This is cross-posted from SO (https://stackoverflow.com/q/47079702/1414455), but I now feel that this needs someone from R-Devel to help understand why this is happening. We are facing a weird situation in our code when using R's [`runif`][1] and setting seed with `set.seed` with the `kind = NULL` option (which resolves, unless I am mistaken, to `kind = "default"`; the default being
