CentOS 7 and 4K display
I installed C7 along with MATE desktop... My monitor is a 4K unit but when I goto the System -> preferences -> hardware -> Displays there is selection for the 4K display. It stops at 1920x1080. The var log x file shows the 4K resolutions in the file so that is good. How do I get the selections for 4K to show up? Thanks, Jerry

4K ~ 3840x2160 resolution and frame buffer support
...machine and installed Xubuntu and I'm still figuring things out. I'm interested in working with The Linux Frame Buffer. Many years ago, I started a project called ezfb and I would like to continue developing it on a machine capable of 4K. Is it possible to have a frame buffer that does 3840x2160 ? With nouveau installed as my video driver, I can get to a frame buffer console of 1920x1080, but I am limited to that resolution in Xfce as well. With a proprietary nVidia driver installed I can get to 4K in Xfce, but my frame buffer is 640x480, 4 bit color. When I try fbset to change anythi...

4K ~ 3840x2160 resolution and frame buffer support
...HDMI cable to a 65 inch Samsung curved screen LCD 4K monitor. I'm not sure what I am looking for in dmesg and xorg log. Please advise. I have built the 3.19.8 kernel and enabled frame buffer support. I can see 7 out of the 8 penguins when I boot. My ultimate goal is to be able to boot to a 3840x2160 32 bit (frame buffer) console. Then go into Xfce, or not, as needed. I like to write frame buffer apps that run in the console. Thank you. limited resolution on DVI and HDMI at the same time
I got 1920x1200 at 59.95Hz via DVI and 3840x2160 at 60.00Hz via HDMI at the same time with the proprietary nvidia driver. I get flickering on the 1920x1200 at 59.95 with the nouveau driver (it doesn't flicker if I lower it to 1920x1080 at 59.96). Any idea why? proprietary: $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 5760 x 2160, maximum 32...

unstable refresh rate
I have a Gigabyte GeForce 1050 connected by DVI to a monitor (1920x1200 resolution @ 59.9502 Hz) and a TV via HDMI (3840x2160 @30 Hz). The problem is the TV used to work at 59.9685 Hz but then it started showing "No signal" on the TV. I was changing settings trying to get it to work again and I happened to change it to 30Hz and it worked. The specs are here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N1050OC-2...

HDMI pixel clock limits
...table pointed to by the 'T' table, but we have a counterexample to that). Could you suggest a way to find this information either from the VBIOS or based on the GPU? Are there differences between regular HDMI and DP -> HDMI (passive)? This is becoming more and more relevant as 2560x1440/3840x2160 displays are become more common, while (dual-link) DVI-D is on its way out. Thanks, -ilia
