As a data point here, I indexed a 2 hour 55 minute theora+vorbis movie I
have here with a 2000ms keyframe index interval, the index used 38404
bytes, for an overhead of 0.00184199%. I doubt any network capable of
playing this video in real time would notice an extra 37KB at the start
of the file.

Persuing the gtalk issue - not only jack-related
Hello everyone!
So I hacked app_jack.c today, as best I could. Whic came mostly down to
inserting ast_log() messages.
I discovered the following with JACK:
When it starts, it tries to read 512 bytes and only gets 0. That clears up
after a while.
Sometimes a good time later than the reading comes the writing. And there
the real strangeness might begin. Because usually the framebuffer

R versions and PostScript files
Dear R users,
I have a desktop computer and a laptop, both of them with Ubuntu Lucid. The
former has R2.10 installed from Ubuntu repositories (this is the most recent
version in the repositories), while the latter has R2.13 from the CRAN
repositories.
I noticed that postscript files generated with R2.10 are "better" than
files generated with the latest release of R, in particular for
