leap year and order function
im trying to write a for loop so that every leap year, the number of days becomes to 366 instead of 365. could someone help me out? and also, this set of data has 99.99s I set all the 99.99 ==NA. however, when im doing the order function to find the max value of that year, it still reads 99.99 as the max value. Thank you very much maxday <- matrix(NA,63,5) for (a in 1948:2010){ maxday[,1]<-1...

birthday problem (factorial limit)
...calculate the formula for the birthday problem (the probability that at least two people out of a group of n people share the same birthday) But the factorial-function allows me only to calculate factorials up to 170. So is there a way to push that limit? to solve this formula: (factorial(365) / factorial((365-23))) / (365^23) (n=23)

setting off-diagonals to zero
The following 1460 x 1460 matrix can be throught of as 16 distinct 365 x 365 matrices. I'm trying to set off-diaganol terms in the 16 sub-matrices with indices more than +/- 5 (days) from each other to zero using some for loops. This works well for some, but not all, of the for loops. The R code I"m using follows. For some reason the third loop below zero...

GlusterFS as virtual machine storage
Oh, you really don't want to go below 30s, I was told. I'm using 30 seconds for the timeout, and indeed when a node goes down the VM freez for 30 seconds, but I've never seen them go read only for that. I _only_ use virtio though, maybe it's that. What are you using ? On Fri, Sep 08, 2017 at 11:41:13AM +0200, Pavel Szalbot wrote: > Back to replica 3 w/o arbiter. Two fio jobs

Hi, Anyone here using office 365 with samba AD? Tips, ideas..? Read this: https://blogs.office.com/2014/04/15/synchronizing-your-directory-with-office-365-is-easy/ The link says "synchronizing-your-directory-with-office-365-is-easy", but I wonder if anyone with an AD on samba has done it? MJ

...as follows: fact <- function(x) { recurse <- x > 1 x[!recurse] <- 1 if( any(recurse) ) { y <- x[recurse] x[recurse] <- y * fact( y - 1 ) } x } I want to be able to do the famous birthday problem, which will involve the computation of 365!, however it shall get cancelled out during the computation. To make it more clear, I want to work out: n <- 1:80 prob <- 1 - ( fact(365) / ( fact( 365 - n ) * 365 ^ n ) ) This, if works, should gives a vector of 80 probabilities, that given a room of n people, 2 will share the same birthda...
