R plots in PowerPoint
I have some plots that I generating using R (using trellis, plot, and barplot2) that I want to include in a PowerPoint presentation I am giving. My computer is running OS X. I find that presentations are easier to read when there is light text on a dark background and would like to generate plots that fit that style. The plots I am generating are all grayscale. Is there an easy way to get R to

Video codec
Hi, I guess this is a good time to start putting together a wish list for a video codec. I see that for audio the compression is around 10X for reasonable quality. I am sure this will start its own thread of conversation. For video you can do 40X fairly easily and the big task is to go to 80X or 100X with reasonable picture quality, say, a peak luma SNR of more than 30 dB. Uncompressed

OT: Need some riser card advice...
...d horizontally. You can mount the battery elsewhere, but not the logic module... Most of the PCI-E 8x risers I've seen out there seem to be pretty small profile and I'm not sure if they'd give the clearance needed (see the Supermicro provided CSE-RR1U-E8). It looks like I need around 35mm of clearance to get the card in sideways with the BBU attached... Another solid option would looke to be a 2U riser, but I am having a harder time finding somethign reasonably priced. The RSC-R2UE-A3E8 from Supermicro looks perfect and would definitely give me the clearance I need, but is priced...

(no subject)
Good morning, I wrote a little code in R which has to show two graphs but I can get only one. How can I adress the graphs in two files? Second, I'd like, always in the same code, to add a legend to a graph. Better, I'd like to put in such a legend a new item whose color could remind the colour ol the columns it refers to in the plot. I wrote: leg.txt<-c("control

Yager on ZFS
Not sure if it''s been posted yet, my email is currently down... http://weblog.infoworld.com/yager/archives/2007/10/suns_zfs_is_clo.html Interesting piece. This is the second post from Yager that shows solaris in a pretty good light. I particularly like his closing comment: "If you haven''t checked out ZFS yet, do, because it will eventually become ubiquitously implemented
