This is frustrating to debug because there's a lot of data being

For example you can see my MOTD by:

Creating vegetation distance groups from one column
Hi R listers,
I am trying to group distances of nests to the vegetation into classes that
are define by (0-5m, 6-10m, 11-15m, 16-20m, 21-25m, 26-30m, 31-35m, 36-40m,
41-45m, 46-50m, 51-55m, 56-60m). Each row is a nest and all the distances to
the vegetation is in a column.
In plyr, I have tried - below script but I think I am going about this the
wrong way and am not successful.
#Veg index star = resp
Veg.index <- function(values, weights=c(0,...

Logging problem
...erver, but when I look into the logfile he says that the file
is uptodate and did not transfer anything. That's strange because the new
file is on the server...
Also when I check the server Internet statistics I see that the outgoing
traffic is much bigger than the incoming traffic (23M IN, 35M OUT). Is this
correct???
Does anybody know a solution?
Thanks for the help.

netem usage example
...ation broke during arpd compile, so I use the
tc binary in the tc/ subdir, there''s also a q_netem.so there).
kernel is 2.6.8.1, compile with CPU cycle counter as time reference.
I was using sch_delay of 2.6.7 happily with something like:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root 1: delay latency 1ms rate 35M
now I use:
tc qdisc add dev eth0 root netem latency 1ms
and it complain about "unknown qdisc netem"
do you have usage example with the new netem "scheduler"?
thanks

Frustrated...Samba on linux w/xfs SLOW problem
I have a very simple setup here that I have recently made some
modifications to and it has affected my ability to save files to the
linux samba server.
The recent changes are: converted all fs's to xfs from ext3.
Upgraded to latest kernel 2.6.7 from a 2.4 kernel.
Samba used to work fine. Now, I can copy files out of my linux samba
server to my windows machine at full speed. However, when
