FreeBSD 9.1-BETA1 amd64 fails to mount ZFS rootfs with error 2 when system has more than 3584MB of RAM
Dear Everyone, I am running FreeBSD 9.1-BETA1 amd64 on ZFS in KVM on Gentoo Linux on ZFS. The root pool uses ashift=13 and is on a single disk. The kernel fails to mount the root filesystem if the system has more than 3584MB of RAM. I did a manual binary search to try to find the exact upper limit, but stopped when I tried 3648MB. FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE works perfectly. Yours truly, Richard Yao -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name: signature.asc Type: application/pgp-signat...

Memory use in R
...ical memory available. These jobs usually stop when the peak commit charge is around 2.6GB (in Windows-speak the "commit charge" is all the memory allocated by system, drivers, applications etc.). Machine characteristics Processor: Pentium-D 4GB of installed memory (Task Manager reports 3584MB = 4GB - 512MB total memory) Windows booted with /3GB switch R started with --max-mem-size=3071M memory.limit() as reported by R: 3071 My questions are: 1. When it starts, does R ask the system to allocate memory for it in a single chunk? 2. Can R allocate memory either side of the system-prealloca...

By the way, we have never had any such problem with all our...
