Samba Speed Issues and Information
...issuees... although i admit I thought they had been fixed in current releases. My | company uses a DOS based Database program (custom), which simply uses file | sharing. Several things take quite a bit of time, like running reports, | posting, etc, even though (a) the processor load on the PII 350s isn't | anywhere near 20%, and (b) the network is 100BaseTx running on a very nice | 3Com Switch. Classic "something else is slowing you down" symptoms. I've directed this to the samba@samba.org list, where more BSD folks live. There is a chaper on "ordinary" tun...

[LLVMdev] SROA is slow when compiling a large basic block
...always computing the dominator tree, computing it conditionally based on whether there is a huge basic block in the function is another idea, but I am not sure if that is possible (I don't think this is currently supported). This brings down the compilation time (using clang -emit-llvm) from 350s to 30s (it still takes about 23s to do GVN). It also might fix PR17855 (the program that used to take 65s to compile now takes just 11s): http://llvm.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=17855 2. Cache the ordering of loads and stores in LoadAndStorePromoter::run. I don't know how hard it would be to i...

I don't want to setup another Asterisk system in each office so IAX is not an option.. I could use

ADSI -- is it dead? Worth bothering with?
Since Colin Anderson -- in a previous thread -- asked the question about whether ADSI was dead, I thought it was worth discussing. We've been using Nortel Vista 350s in our office up until now. The phones are from Telus, I don't know if there's any way to unlock them. It would appear Telus hasn't done much in the way of updating software for these phones; or if they have, they haven't told us about it. Personally -- the features on this phone h...

Found: inexpensive ADSI phone
I know I heard people looking for inexpensive ADSI phones a while back. Can't vouch for these guys, but this looks like a reasonable deal for what perhaps are new phones. No experience with ADSI, myself, but thought I'd pass it along. These folks also carry the Nortel analog units that do intercom and 2-line, as has been discussed in prior threads.
