HTB policing affects shaping performance? Please, help.
...ess shared folders (samba) on ip 10.4.10.10 from my laptop with ip 172.16.0.2. Everything works as expected when downloading or uploading (correctly shaped and policed at 1Mbit). But when I try to download and upload at the same time, my speed drops down rapidly on both download and upload (approx. 350kbit and 550kbit). I tried to replace tc filter with iptables CLASSIFY but with the same result. What is the correct approach when configuring separate queues with guaranteed rate without affecting each other? Running 2.6.19-gentoo-r5, iptables-1.3.5, iproute2-ss061214 Thanx in advance. Slavius. ___...

Beta4 artifact/bug in the bass area
Hi! Today, I found an encoding bug with a new tune by me. http://www.uni-karlsruhe.de/~us87/ogg/vorbis_bassrumble_demo.rar (2.1MB) contains the original .WAV in 16bit/44.1kHz and an .OGG encoded at 350kbit/s. I found the bug when listening to the 128kbit/s version, but encoding it with that high bitrate didn't change a thing. The deep bassdrum contains a rumbling, knocking sound (the first time i heard it i thought someone was knocking my door :) ) in the .ogg, not in the original .wav. In othe...

Mono wavs with b4
When I encode a monophonic wav file, I would expect the resulting ogg file to be at about half the bit rate specified on the command line, as stated in the "oggenc -h" help text: "The 6 modes are approximately 112, 128, 160, 192, 256, and 350 kbps (for stereo 44.1kHz input. Halve these numbers for mono input).". This doesn't seem to be happening, though. I took a 16-bit,

Oggenc bug & other
...s an encoding bug in the beta 3 (downloaded exe from the vorbis.com) and in the latest CVS (jan. 10.) too (compiled with MSVC 6.0): If the file contains some non-audible noise at the begin or at the end, the encoder/decoder makes some large clips in the output file, if the bitrate is 350kbit/s . If I use 256kbit/s or less - it seems - the problem's gone. There is a sample audio file related to this problem at http://padara.tripod.com/TR12.ZIP and at http://www.geocities.com/mpxplay/TR12.ZIP locations. (a short wav and ogg file) This file is not a special case, I g...

RC2 worse than RC1 and Beta4
After doing an informal (128k) listening test, I have concluded that I prefer Beta4 over RC2. The 16kHz low-pass on the RC2 encoder makes it sound like FM radio. Both encoders SEEM to have a couple of dB bump at 10kHz.
