Quicktime + FLAC?
...it a
shot... since i already have most of the infrastructure already for
directshow.
I had a look a few times for detailed info on quicktime, and it all looked
pretty painful.
Not to mention all the base media handler code provided for the sdk, says
not suitable for bitrates greater than like 32kpbs which is useless to most
media plug-ins, so it looks like you have to get down and dirty to get
anything non-trivial done.
But it's certainly one of those things that has been on my really long
like-to-do list. Since i primarily use iTunes (under windows) for audio, it

Alright, I've reencoded some music at 32kpbs mono 22050Hz and I can
reproduce this problem on Solaris (but not on Linux). My first guess
is there may be some non-LP64-safe code in the MP3 frame parser in
libshout. I'll let you know what I find...

yah. iceS does that. in fact, i'm listening to all of my mp3's right now
using less bandwidth than a 56k. (32kpbs)

Quicktime + FLAC?
I bought myself a PowerBook and hoped to play my FLAC-encoded library via
iTunes. Alas -- it doesn't work.
My understanding is that iTunes uses QuickTime for playback; does anyone
know where to find a FLAC codec for QuickTime?
I noticed that there was some discussion about this ~1 year ago on flac-dev.
Did any dev projects get underway, or should I roll up my sleeves and give
it a go?
