Problems with libshout2
Hi,
Let me know if this is the wrong place to post this, but I am having
problems with cutouts in my streams using libshout2. I am taking audio
files and re-encoding them at 32Kbs and then streaming them. Problem is
that every 20 secs or so, the stream cuts out for about 5-10 secs and
then continues. Any ideas as to why? Should I try using shout_send_raw?
Thanks in advance!!

Graceful degradation of signal
...is that they be
additive onto the next lower rung. (sorry for no doubt misusing
terminology) Ie:
a 128kbs shell is equiv. to the 64kbs shell + 64kbs extra information
Now we can acheive graceful degradation by sending the various shells
with varying degrees of redundancy. For example,
the 0->32kbs shell might be sent 3/2 (ie 1 parity bit for 2 data) and
the 32->64kbs shell might be sent 5/4 and
the 64kbs->128kbs shell sent 9/8.
that adds up to sending 17/14 which is something like 155kbs instead
of the 128kbs data stream. However, we are now able to accept a 11%
drop rate befo...

bad quality, important buffering, etc...
Hi,
I'm trying to set up an icecast 1.3.11 server for our Medicine School.
It's on a PIII 1Ghz, with 256 Mb RAM on a BiPro board (single proc yet),
and a 3 COM 10/100 NIC. Unfortunately the NIC is plugged in a 10 Mbits/s
hub for now. It's under GNU/Linux (Debian Woody) + a 2.4.10 kernel.
The load of the server is very low, because there's almost only icecast
running + ices which

Basics about Videostreaming?
Hi All!
I've seen, that icecast can stream videos! Great! Audiostreaming with
icecast is well known, but how about videostreaming? Can you tell me
some basics about it?
- which software is required? (Icecast, ok ;) what else? - by the way:
my OS is a linux ;) )
- I want to stream a live-video with 1024x768 resolution - is it
possible? - is it wise?
- what a compression-rate is to use, if

The notation is confusing, but 32kBs (KBytes/s) is the
same as 256kbs (kbit/sec)! Of course, I'm assuming this is
what Geoff meant.
I've had to rate limit some file transfers
to prevent interference with the voice channels.
Your experience will depend on how much the
web and jabber servers are used.
