how to calculate seasonal mean for temperatures

My main problem is that all my files starts and ends not the same year (some of them starts 1st January 2006 and ends 31th december 2008, some of them starts 1st January 2007 and ends 31th December 2011, ...). So not the same year, but all of them starts a 1st January and ends a 31th December. I'd like first to delete (or ignore) all the first 2 months (January and February) and the last month (December) of all m...

Automated stepwise multiple linear regression
...on between temperatures and different surface parameters. Data can be found in several .xls- or .csv-files within one folder. Files are named "TMP_20090819_MLR_sfcparA" (data for August 19th 2009), daywise going on until for example "TMP_20091231_MLR_sfcparA" (data for December 31th 2009). Every single file contains a column "logger", "temperature", "surface_parameter1", "surface_parameter2", "surfaceparameter3", and so on (all in all max. 10 surface parameters). Furthermore every data file allways contains 21 datasets (=rows))...

xen + vlan: works but...
..., in UDP tests I''ve discovered that a certain amount of packets get lost. Results are: in case A) 100% bytes transferred are received in case B) 4% bytes transferred are lost [**] Could that "4%" be considered acceptable for Xen? For example: XenEnterprise 3.2 (to be released 31th March) will do better? (it has support for vlan AFAIK). Someone has got some numbers? Others check I''ve run: C)=> 2 physical hosts on the same vlan, one of which is the Xen server: 100% bytes transferred are received !!!!! D)=> Under vmware esx v3 I''ve got (different...

OpenSSH Security Advisory: Trojaned Distribution Files
OpenSSH Security Advisory (adv.trojan) 1. Systems affected: OpenSSH version 3.2.2p1, 3.4p1 and 3.4 have been trojaned on the OpenBSD ftp server and potentially propagated via the normal mirroring process to other ftp servers. The code was inserted some time between the 30th and 31th of July. We replaced the trojaned files with their originals at 7AM MDT, August 1st. 2. Impact: Anyone who has installed OpenSSH from the OpenBSD ftp server or any mirror within that time frame should consider his system compromised. The trojan allows the attacker to gain control of the system a...
