hello everybody! i have a samba (3.0.24) running on a gentoo (alpha) box. i connect to a share using cifs and when i then run df -h, i get the following ahuemer@xeon distfiles % df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda1 34G 31G 3.3G 91% / udev 759M 2.8M 756M 1% /dev shm 759M 20K 759M 1% /dev/shm //axp/export 226E -240E 456E - /mnt/axp ahuemer@xeon distfiles % which would be great indeed (except the minus of course...), but that's simply totally wrong. w...

dovecot & Apple Mail & maildir & lots of Mail
...Apple Mail was usable, but the first time the cursor moved over the mailboxes on the left hand side, it froze again. There were two imap processes on the server, one rather idle, the other eating CPU for about two minutes, then idling, and some time later it disappeared too. My Mail directory is 31G with about 180 directories, each containing mails in maildir format. Has anyone had similar issues? Is my maildir too big for dovecot too handle? How can I debug this? Thanks, Thomas

real HDD usage of XEN images
Hello, i am creating my XEN VM with virt-install (see below). When I create new images i do first an "df -h" to see if there is still enough space left on the drive. Are the XEN images pre allocated or does XEN only use that space that really is used by the VM inside the image? Duplicating Hard Drive Problem
...that I am, I was told to 'make sure that it works.' After investigating it, I noticed a problem with two of the hard drives one nodes 14 and 16. On most of the nodes, a 'df -hT' will give you the following: Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted On /dev/hda3 ext3 35G 1.7G 31G 6% / /dev/hda1 ext3 99M 14M 79M 15% /boot none tmpfs 250M 0 250M 0% /dev/shm master:/home nfs 660GB 33M 626G 1% /home which is as it should be. Note that the /home directory on all the nodes is nfs'ed over to our RAID array. However, on the faulty nodes, the first line of 'df -hT'...

Release of centos-3.3 ISP bill
It turns out that the release of Centos-3.3 was so popular, that it threw us way over the threshold of our ISP's, and now we are stuck with a _very_ large bill (as in an estimated 6TB of transfers). While in one hand I am ecstatic that we are so successful, but on the other hand, that is coming out of the developers pockets. The developers should be the last ones footing these bills (and this
